proof of having the 5.3, a pair of Muncies and a Fiero all in the same place at the same time.

Yup, I recognize those intake ports... just removed stock seats and guides on 3 pair of LS heads, two of them marked "5.3". Now you just need beryllium bronze seats and guides, titanium valves and retainers, CNC 5 axis port work, angle milling, and you'll be all set!

you gonna donate all that? Sure is generous of you. How did you know it was my birthday at 3:17 tomorrow morning? but if I need it, then retard needs it twice as bad. And CNC porting is a great way to reproduce a good porting job, but since I have not yet ported either pair of my 5.3 heads yet, I do not yet have a good port to reproduce. Still, picking up a good 5.3 with fire-damaged intake manifold and coils for $70 on half-price-day at Pick-N-Pull was a genius move, even tho it meant not getting either of those two Muncies in those 3 Fieros. One was an '87, and I wanted the nose.

Intending to run that 5.3?

I had a fire damaged Northstar that did NOT have intake manifold damage and it let go of a head gasket after about 300 miles. #'s 2 and 4 blow into the cooling system. FYI.

Actually, the fire damaged 5.3 is coming apart. There is probably bits of intake manifold in whichever cylinders had the intake valves open, and these heads do not have the triangle marks, so they are not the good ones, so they will get ported. This will facilitate doing back-to-back chassis dyno testing of stock heads versus ported heads. Also, I like the buildup of the 5.3 with the Thumpr cam pulling 433 HP @ 6800 rpm, so I need to upgrade the rod bolts and get the balance perfect. And since I'm going that far, I may as well bore it to 6.0 liters. That's safe, and saves 23 pounds, supposedly. IF I do that, I'll weigh the block before and after. And IF I go to 6.0, I'm thinking TFS heads.

good thing I pulled the heads! not only was there bits of intake in the cylinders, but a bit of surface rust in a couple of spots, though there was a good crosshatch everywhere else. I took pics, so they should be on here one week from now. Will, maybe the heat caused your head bolts to fatigue?

this shows that I have the second 5.3 added to my collection, and that I've pulled the heads.

Good news! No need to modify the truck oil pan. The Camaro pan will fit perfectly, with NO clearance issues. I'll be watching e-bay for one as soon as I get my next paycheck. I found the measurements in the GM manual for swapping the crate LS1 into old musclecars. I'll scan the info in ASAP, so you all can see, now that you've seen my pics of how the truck pan clears but is too deep.
