Re: attempt at 9's failed

Perhaps add a little toe in on the rear and make sure the fronts are zero toe. That should help higher speed wandering.

Re: Finally dynoed my turbo 3.4 dohc....430 rwhp!

This thread has made me up the power on my car. I am running 17psi now. Hopefully I will have some dyno numbers in the next couple weeks. It feels faster.

Re: Getrag not shifting smoothly at 7000+ rpm

I am running exposed springs currently. I don't think that the mass of the spring pack would cause this issue. I would look towards clutch release if that is all you changed. Are you sure you got the right pressure plate?

Re: To build the ultimate 3.4 DOHC: Turbo DYNO NUMBERS

With my stock pressure plate and 6-puck Clutchnet, I have never had a problem with slipping. They gave me a low estimate for power holding too. I am happy with it. If I needed more holding power, I would get an upgraded pressure plate from them with the same disc.

Re: Getrag not shifting smoothly at 7000+ rpm

I have no problem shifting my car at 7200 RPM. I would suspect synchro and then clutch.

Re: To build the ultimate 3.4 DOHC: Turbo DYNO NUMBERS

Manual trans turbo Fieros aren't the easiest thing to launch at the strip. I run high 11s with near 120 MPH trap speeds. 420 at the wheels.

Re: To build the ultimate 3.4 DOHC: built block, turbo & etc

When you are sitting still, engine running and clutch in, can you shift through the gears? If you can, it's nothing to do with the clutch.

Re: To build the ultimate 3.4 DOHC: built block, turbo & etc

The highest I have seen my injectors is ~86% duty cycle. Rough math says the amount of HP a fuel injectors can support is double it's flow rate (lb/hr). So my six 38lb injectors should be good for roughly 456 hp. This is very dependent on BSFC. My numbers indicate a slightly lower BSFC meaning I am ...

If you haven't gotten it apart yet, I will take a picture of what you need to do with the bushing tonight and post it. I don't need any of the parts, just the bell housing. Thanks.

Re: Getrag Failure Analysis

Here are pictures of my previous trans failure. It looks like a tooth broke off the pinion and that caused the case to pop. I looked at the first trans I broke (diff failure) and it had a crack on one of the pinion gear teeth also. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3356/3494655700_b035f96cc0.jpg http:/...

Re: To build the ultimate 3.4 DOHC: built block, turbo & etc

Matt, are you using the throttle pump settings on the Haltech? My understanding is that it helps with throttle response with fast inputs of throttle, which my car desperately needs help with... perhaps you could enlighten me. I KNOW I need lots of tuning elsewhere, but it seems as though I'll need ...

Getrag Failure Analysis

I copied this from the other forum. I have been soul searching as to why I keep failing my transmissions. The easy answer is too much power, but I am getting tired of replacing the transmission. I am far too good at getting the case apart. A skill I never wished to obtain! We all know that history h...

Re: To build the ultimate 3.4 DOHC: built block, turbo & etc

Matt, thanks for your information. I'm using the timing tables that you sent me from that basic tune you had. Maybe I should try to set my timing at 67 degrees and see if it runs any better? Thanks for your information, as always! The return line for the oil is high temp push-loc line. Where it is ...

Re: To build the ultimate 3.4 DOHC: built block, turbo & etc

What is your IGN Divide by set to? What is your duty cycle at max power? The Haltech manual is really unspecific about the concept of ignition divide by. I have it set to 3 which should mean that it fires all the injectors once per rotation of the engine, right? This should thus double the fuel out...
