Well, as it would turn out, I got home today from a drunk spree of happiness I"m still working off (see?), and saw my brake lights still on. Mhm. I pulled the pedal up with my foot, no help. Wha? I pushed and released the pedal, and it turned off like a toggle switch. Oh that's just great. Look...

Nevermind! As anyone that's probably ever looked under the dash would know, there's a hugely obviously visible switch sitting right there. Mine was knocked back a few notches, making it touchy at best as to whether or not it'll actually engage (?) and turn off the lights. And best of all (er, depend...

Brake light switch replacement/adjustment/repair?

Pretty sure you're all sick of seeing topics by me by now... but you know, sad as it may seem, I hold this forum pretty high for the number of auto tech geniuses we have here. You guys seem to be mostly above "how i aer fix my start problem", more into "how can i get more gigas from m...

LOL at the "only" things left :D I think my car's remaining priorities are... 1) Cough up the $100 to have Dickman's adjustable upper ball joints installed (it's needed a major adjustment since I got the damn car and you should hear the response I get out of mechanics doing an alignment!) ...

To remove pests from your house, simply pick up the house, shake out the pests, and set it back on its foundation, making sure to realign the posts with the holes in the ground. :salute:

"I think you can even do it with the car on the ground"? Well, it's no airplane, and I'm no muscle man (nor am I Bill Gates with billions of dollars to burn), so on the ground it is for me. :P At any rate, the plug wires were VERY MUCH the problem! Every one "broke off" as I was ...

I kinda stopped reading seriously after step #1, the whole "rotate" part. You know, like people think car engines have this huge propeller on the end of them that you can just grab, and "turn" to any desired position. I take it you haven't seen a 2.hate in a while? Er, like, how ...

Well, seems to have reached the peak of its shit-running-ness... still drivable, but definitely not a "comfortable" ride (is a Fiero ever a "comfy" ride?). Couldn't get the new wires today, since I was working (bleh) from 4 to way-past-bedtime tonight and I wake up at like, noon....

Oh, let me tell you how many times I've had an unpleasant brush with sparks. Come anywhere near the tower boot, with the engine running, even if I'm leaning from a mile away from the car, I get a blast of awakening magic. Fun times. =o

Well, that does it for me. Next stop, plug wires. Cheaper and more readily available than a new damn ECM anyway. ;) So, without getting racing or show car profssional, what do you think I should ge, or rather, where should I get it? We're talking less than thirty bucks, right? I need something that'...

Ah, fuck. Wild goose chase again? =P On a Pizza Hut budget (which, granted, is better than what I had with previous repairs)... geh! Well, I'm starting with a new tach filter, because I can see with my own eyes that it's on its very last leg, and has caused problems in the past by shorting one of th...

Well, the PROM (Programmable ROM) chip should only contain car-specific information like the VIN (maybe), engine-specific information, and maybe a program the system runs... Hell, I'd love to open up the ECM just to see what chips make the car tick ;) 15 bucks, you say? That's a steal considering th...

Oh, and I should mention... it does seem to be getting not...

... Hmm. Well, I haven't seen a SES light in a very, very long time, I wonder if it's still counting? :P I should have a look at that. Tuesday's my day off (today and tomorrow I still have to deliver pizza with my poor car, GAH!), so I'll have a look at the ECM then. Just out of sheer curiosity, is ...

Someone shoot the designer of this ignition system...

Ignition problems have been haunting my poor Fiero for months now. I guess if it's not fuel problems, cooling problems, or interior problems, it's something else, and this time it chose the ignition system. For the past few months, I'd had intermittent problems with the pickup coil coming somehow &q...

I can't believe I didn't think of that... I'd been just having to leave the parking lights on when I wanted to keep the headlights open (you can pull the headlight switch back without hitting "off" if you have rough, dry fingers <.<). I'll have to do that later, thanks! :salute:

Meanwhile I have to work from 6:15 to 11:30 tonight, 6 to 10:30 tomorrow, and 4 to 10:30 on Monday, delivering pizza with severely fucked-up headlights. BLAM weekends! :blah5:

Where would I be with any other car? Up shit creek without a fan-base-community, that's where. :thumbleft:

Thanks!

Ee? Well, I won't rub it being in my sig in, but it's an 87 GT, the new style. The motor has a worm gear on the end, which drives an outer nylon gear, which drives a hub connected to a shaft. The shaft then manipulates a bunch of weird levers and rods that are all OK on my car :) Somehow, mysterious...

Headlight bushing kits and gears everywhere, but shafts?

Me again... Looks like my car's last owner decided to ghetto-rig a fix for the headlight motor bushings wearing out, which involved a single chopped-up metal nut lodged between the metal shaft/hub and nylon gear. I hate idiots. So now I know why the headlight only worked right some of the time. Mean...
