locating/reinforcing weak points in a chassis
Well it's not for my Fiero, but I'm trying to determine some methods used to determine weak points in a chassis. We can keep this pretty general, but the car in question is my AE86. I've cleaned up the engine bay a lot to get it ready for paint, so I want to add any reinforcements there first before...

Its a ricer wing if its on a civic, but an adjustable cf wing on a Skyline is functional. Plus I like the way they look on Skylines. Damn ricers ruined it for the real tuners... Fart cans that mimic mufflers on turbo cars and tripple decker wings mimicing functional wings on fast rwd cars. :cussing...

I would be really interested in that, especially if it had enough material to go out to 086 sized ports. There are places in the 086 head that could benefit from adding a little material, I'm sure. Also, what do you mean about the valve seats being aluminum? I've never heard of that, but then again ...

Also -- imagine the space savings. It's got the size advantage of a pushrod engine (probably an even smaller head) with the airflow advantages of the rotary valve. The very reason that the LS7 isn't DOHC (and the N* isn't 7L) is no longer an issue. Imagine a 7L engine the size of the LS7 but with ai...

Rotary valve -- someone finally got it right?
http://www.v-eight.com/multimedia/pdf/AutoTechBRV.pdf Very interesting. It kills me though how these restrictions are made for F1 -- they are supposed to be pushing the envelope and developing new ideas to get around certain restrictions. It advances the forefront for automotive technology, why ban ...

The block is aluminum, I forgot. Why is it so heavy if its all aluminum? I just did some reading on it and it has less bore and more stroke than a regular 350. That would be the first thing I would change about the engine. DOHC engines should be designed to be oversquare, the more rpm the better. I...

I'm asking 4k obo. Haha I know what you mean, Will -- I used to compare the 1993 Grand Am (looking around for Quad4 donors) with my friend's '93 RX7 and I couldn't believe it. I guess the RX7 was a little ahead of its time, though. I love that Audi stuck with the CQ body style until '95 or something...

1990 Audi Coupe Quattro in SC
The time has come for me to sell my Audi. It's a yellow 1990 Coupe Quattro. It's a 5spd with the 20v 5cyl engine. It runs very strong and is a blast to drive. It's got ice cold A/C, new tires, new brake pads, new differential mount, door panels reupholstered, new P/S and A/C compressor belt, and fre...

That's an interesting idea, but the problem I see is that if you're in a higher speed corner (significant, but not maximum, power required) at the upper end of your RPM range for whatever gear you're in, you may want more airflow at partial boost than the single turbo can supply. That's a good poin...

I may be missing crucial facts of sequential turbocharging  I really haven't dealt with it before other than taking apart the system on a FD RX7, which may be vastly different than many other systems out there. I was designing the system based on the assumption that the single turbo wouldn'...

4AGE 20v head porting
http://www.billzilla.org/20vhead.jpg I am pretty sure I'm going to do some port work on the 20v engine included with the Corolla project I just bought. I found a cross section of the 20v head online, and I'm trying to decide how to approach this. Since I don't have a lot of experience porting heads...

I agree -- I was weighing my options between two 14b turbochargers and a single 16g. I could make about 350 crank hp with either, but it would probably take close to 18psi. Based on stock output of a DSM, I'm guessing that it would take less than 10psi with two 14b turbos, and spool would probably b...

What's the difference between sequential and staged? Is staging similar to compounding? I know that what I was describing is different from compound turbocharging, but I don't know what staged (or the real differential of sequential) means. The car in the picture is a focus, but I think that type of...
