Re: 3.4 DOHC OBDII vs. OBDI

Your situation is going to require a custom reflash either way. The 91-95 ECU will have the wrong map for the 96-97 heads and intake, but the 96-97 OBD II ECU doesn't natively support a manual transmission.

Check with Ryan at gmtuners.com as he may have done the swap this way before, or tuned for it.

Re: Tilton Clutch

That's good news.

I wonder they'll rework an older plate to install the new flat heads. Or did you determine it wasn't needed if using an F23?

If you're in Southern California, I have a Percy Wheelrite you can borrow. It's the tool Will linked to above.

Re: Shock Valving, Spring Rates

Why use Mustang struts? ETA: by that I mean it sounds like it would be as much work to adapt Mustang struts as it would be to build strut housings in order to use a shelf Bilstein shock. Much easier to adapt the Mustang struts! Adapting Mustang struts requires welding on new ears, adding a stop for...

Re: Shock Valving, Spring Rates

Has anyone adapted Mustang front struts to the rear? Not yet. I purchased some for R&D a couple years ago. It doesn't look like they would be difficult to adapt. You need to add a spring perch and new mounting ears to the housing, and make a new strut top mount. The hole in the Fiero upper strut mo...

Re: 4g63 fiero on smoking tire

Props to the guy for putting a big horsepower motor in a Fiero AND taking it to the track. That said, the chassis performance looks horrendous. It needs a lot of work and he doesn't seem to be the one to do it. Lots to learn. I haven't seen any videos of Jnco, Scott, or Justin's cars doing anything ...

Re: Front Suspension Crutch 84-87

I'd like to keep the spring rate on the lower side. Both of the tracks we're close to, NHMS and Thompson, have lots of transitions in both pavement type and track angle. My impression is that for these conditions stiffer springs will make it more of a handful. I don't think you realize how soft you...

Re: West Coast Fiero dual clutch setup

I talked to Chris about this setup over the weekend. They do indeed make a large-diameter dual disc clutch that fits the Getrag 282. Seems like this might be a good match for something like an LS4. The point at which you're making enough torque to need it is probably the point at which you're breaki...

Cool, let me know if you find any lifters. I'll take the cam carrier either way. Any chance you have the cam thrust plate that was bolted to the end of the cam carrier? I could use a few.

WTB 91-96 3.4 DOHC lifter / cam follower

I need one 91-96 3.4 DOHC V6 lifter / cam follower for research purposes. Must be from a 91-96 motor. The 91-97 years had 35mm followers and the 97s were 33mm.

A cam carrier would also be useful if you have one.

Re: Front Suspension Crutch 84-87

We do have an adjustable brake bias to the rear and we're plumbed directly to the front calipers. This was put in place when we went to 11.5" discs with Camaro calipers. This is coupled with the Blazer MC. This system works well unless you hit the brakes hard and fast in which case the fronts lock ...

Re: West Coast Fiero dual clutch setup

It's hard to package a multi-disc clutch in a Getrag 282 because of clearance issues with case ribs and I think a shaft bearing boss. I've driven Chris West's Aurora 4.0L Turbo Fiero which has a 7.25" Tilton dual-disc and NSX transmission. It's driveable but you can't slip the clutch without overhea...
