Re: The SERIOUS Wheel & Tire Thread
Now running 315/30/18 rear and 265/35/18 fronts on my 88. The tires are Nankang CR-S (200tw). Haha!!! Looks awesome!!. Any static pictures? edit: Is your track width still stock with all the suspension mods? Yep the track width is still stock. 20240224_153439.jpg 1711223152_img_8471_mmthumb.jpg 171...

Very exciting to see how much the price has come down for 3d-printed metal parts. Kids have it so easy these days!

Re: My 3.4 DOHC powered red and black camo '88 Fiero Track Car
Update for April 2024 After I had some autocrosses under my belt and a lot of new confidence in the car, I booked a weekend with NASA at Buttonwillow Raceway and got to work on the last few major items on my track prep list. First on the list was recovery points. I checked my front tow loop and it ...

Re: The SERIOUS Wheel & Tire Thread
Awesomesauce that you got it up and running with those! Do you still have Koni rear struts? Yeah still running underdamped Koni reds set to full stiff %) How much wheel-to-strut clearance do you have? I have C5 Corvette 18x9.5-61 rear wheels with 25mm adapter. Based on that fitment, an 18x9.5-35 wo...

Re: Staggered tire fitment.
Power is a factor as well. C5, C6 & C7 Corvettes are almost exactly 50/50, but run a significant stagger because they have a lot of power. For a low power ride, stagger matching the weight distribution is a great bet. Like the 50/50 BMWs, the Corvette racers run square for best performance on t...

Re: Track Days in the DOHC Fiero
Back to doing autocrosses and track days in my 88 this year. Since the last time I tracked the car, my setup has changed from 215/275 staggered Hankook RS3s and 12" rotors with stock calipers, to 265/315 staggered Nankang CR-S, C7 Brembo brakes, custom front and rear uprights, and Conti MK60E5 ...

Re: Any Fiero road racers running tube chassis cars?
Nice cars! I love the notchie.
The Fiero racers I know are running cars based on the stock spaceframe. There must be a lot of tube frame cars out there but I rarely see them come up for sale.
What tracks do you go to?

Re: Staggered tire fitment.
87 Duke with a 5 speed is 43.5% front, 56.5% rear so an ideal stagger would be something like 195 front 255 rear. Given that a front suspension tends to not work as well as rear since it has to turn, you could bump it up to 205 or 215 at the front and probably not be too front-biased.

Re: My 3.4 DOHC powered red and black camo '88 Fiero Track Car
New seat! Got a Sparco Evo to replace my very very old (1999 build date, I think) Sparco Rev. I also put new upholstery on the Corbeau A4 on the passenger side. Went from red seats to black ones. I might do custom upholstery at some point to spice things up a bit, but I'm liking the black for now. I...

Re: The SERIOUS Wheel & Tire Thread
Now running 315/30/18 rear and 265/35/18 fronts on my 88. The tires are Nankang CR-S (200tw). The wheels are Apex SM-10 18x9.5 ET35 and 18x11 ET35. I'm running a small (3 or 5mm) spacer in the rear to clear the trailing link, which is lowered by 45mm at the upright compared to the stock. Otherwise m...

Re: Daily RX8 with LFX?, lol
I drove some special edition but otherwise stock MT RX8 once and it was an absolute blast. Punches way way way above it's pay grade. Probably one of the best car chassis ever made. Just needs a good reliable engine with at least 300hp. An LFX/LGX swap would be awesome.

I'm not sure about autocrosses, but for track days you're less than 2 hours from Carolina Motorsports Park. That's a great facility. I've done a couple track days there.ericjon262 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 11:55 pm The track time looks like a blast, I wish there were events like that here.

are the clips you're using to hold the speed sensor cable to the brake line 3d printed? how are your prints holding up in environments like that? care to give us a run down on your printer and process? I 3d printed some hubcap adapters for my car at one point, but they warped in the heat here in SC...

Awesomesauce! And your suspension is stiff enough to keep the fenders off the tires, apparently! :-D I don't want to cut the fenders until I have my widebody flares designed, so in the meantime I added a long polyurethane foam bump stop that gets to around 1000#/in close to fender contact. It works...

Slayed some cones over the weekend at a PCA event and then Corner Exit Autocross. I definitely lost a lot of skill due to my 8 year hiatus from motorsports, but I picked up a lot of speed throughout the weekend. At least it's coming back. No major issues with the car other than my rear camber slippi...

Re: 1988 Fiero track car
Exhaust is done and looks great (in my completely unbiased opinion). Only remaining thing is I'll probably need some kind of heat shield on the bumper plastic but we'll see once the car is running. I'm melting my bumper with less exhaust heat and more clearance to the tips. Add the shields and don'...

Re: LZ9 and LZ4 Fiero Swap Parts
I was checking out Onshape, and it looks like it has some sort of FEA built into it. However, that looks to be a $$$ paid option. For comparing the strength of different engine mount designs (which can be hard to analyse by intuition with their funky shape), I think that doing sort of basic static ...
