Re: wet sump engine oil control, a thread.

I must have been reading a different publication you by chance have a link to a downloadable or browser viewable copy? Just dug out my copy. My bad -- I was mixing up the priority main oiling and the main bearing journal rod oiling mod. These are the changes listed in the manual. So as you said it ...

Re: Who wants to design a LZ itb intake and 3d print it?

Polymaker PA-CF is supposed to be annealed at 80C for 6 hours. I do it with a big food dehydrator. https://www.plasticsintl.com/media/b1waaehe/polycarbonate-annealing.pdf That is what I found for polycarbonate, and it has a max ramp and and down rate for temperature control. If its not that strict,...

Re: wet sump engine oil control, a thread.

Great info on racing wet sumps in this video starting about halfway through. Turns out BTCC rules still don't allow dry sumps. So Mountune has developed a lot of wet sumps for professional racing. There is discussion about swinging pickups, trap doors, and accusump. https://youtu.be/csDa_Di8r44?si=c...

Re: wet sump engine oil control, a thread.

I think the 3.4 DOHC pump is the same as the Melling HV pump. It even has the green spring in it that the GM 60v6 motorsports manual says to use. Have you read that guide? It has specific instructions for modifying the high volume pump to get a good oil supply. If GM recommends the HV pump it's prob...

Re: Who wants to design a LZ itb intake and 3d print it?

Yep, I regularly run my coolant temp up around 240F / 115C. Are there resins that can hold up to that and full atmospheric pressure / vacuum? I know some people have successfully used FDM intake manifolds printed with PA-CF, which when printed and annealed properly can have an HDT above 175C at over...

Re: Brembo OEM brake caliper info?

C8 base is same as C7. The calipers look a little different but same fitment. Same rotor diameter and hat offset. I'm using C8 rotors on my car with C7 calipers. They fit under 17s.

Pic is from before I upgraded to 18" wheels.

Re: Brembo OEM brake caliper info?

Scott's site (linked above) has some great info but also a lot of inaccuracies. I've emailed him before and he may have corrected some but I still see errors about rotor offsets. Other issue were about piston sizes for some calipers. So make sure you verify from another source before you commit to a...

Oh, the whole car, not just the top :-D Hah yeah I can see why. Fixed! You were really proud of your CARB legal TDC swap when you first completed it. I was wondering if you were going to keep your current VIN/engine combo and start over on a new body. Yeah I want to keep a street Fiero for R&D,...

WTB 1988 Fiero, no sunroof, non running is OK

Must be slick top (no sunroof). Does not need to be running. Doesn't matter if fastback, notchback, auto, manual, 4 cyl or V6, AC or not. Paint can be peeling factory paint or fair condition professional respray. Must have straight, rust free space frame. Some surface rust is OK. I will need picture...

Re: Dry sump oil control, a thread.

There is at least one dry sump system that uses the stock internal OEM oil pump for the pressure stage, and an external pump that only has scavenge stages. JUBU makes it for the the Evora: https://www.jubu-performance.com/en/shop/part-jubu_trockensumpf_system_2grfe_evo-2139 Papadakis posted a nice v...

Re: wet sump engine oil control, a thread.

I wish there was an easy way for us to get cameras inside the sump to see exactly what it looks like while the engine is running. Even with a camera I'm not sure we'd be able to see what's actually going on. Check out this vid... Aerated oil is pretty much opaque. https://youtu.be/VaTbfvzNbxQ?si=r_...

@Series, was the LZ9 tray installed during this track session? did things work out better? No, the last update on my thread is from a May track day. I'm a couple track days behind on updates. I'll be testing the windage tray in October. A few minutes ago Kevin sent me a photo of my LZ9 tray with th...

Re: My 3.4 DOHC powered red and black camo '88 Fiero Track Car

Beating the Heat I managed to squeeze in two more events before the full heat of summer arrived. At the end of May, my friend Shane Reetz (@trackdailycrx) was in town to hang out for a few days and co-drive my Fiero at Buttonwillow Raceway during a Speed District track day. Shane's track car is a t...
