what's shirley's number? Shirley's number or mine? I almost put my number in the post but I dont know if that's such a good idea, haha. The call from Jersey, the guy said he was from Comcast, and the call from Oregon, I don't know who the guy was but the exchange was 150 which I find odd since area...

Yesterday my phone rights at work and this guy asks for Shirley and i tell him that there is no Shirley at the number and hes like "Well is this *insert my number here*?" and I say "Yeah but there's no Shirley here." And then I hung up. I ran a reverse lookup on the phone number ...

Theres the thin wire (brown) that I believe gets the signal from the dash light to excite the alternator (whatever excite means, maybe it gets it "in the mood") and the other wire, the red one, connects to the same wire that connects to the stud on the alternator.

EDIT: It just occured to me. At some point, the previous owner had the alternator replaced. I remember he told me that it was replaced. I wonder if my new alternator has the correct size pulley and the old alternator has the wrong pulley. Can someone measure their alt pulley for me? I think I may ju...

Yeah I played around with the part numbers and found a belt that is 1.25" larger which may work. I probably cant use the factory size belt though, I pushed the alternator all the way in on its bracket and still had trouble getting the belt off as it seemed fairly small. One more thing, I bought...

I wouldnt think it would hurt the alternator. I'm just worried about it putting out enough at idle. If I calculated correctly, the new pulley should have 1.57" more circumference than the old pulley. So I could probably just get a belt thats 2" bigger and it should be fine.

Are you sure the larger pulley will spin it slower? I thought it would spin it faster since an underdrive pulley is smaller but makes your accessories spin slower. Either way, I don't know what to do about the different sized pulleys. If I have to switch them its not a big deal, I'll take it to work...

I'm having a bit of a hold up with this replacement. I got the old alternator out without too much trouble. But when comparing the 87 alternator with the 88 alternator I see that the 88 has a larger pulley on it. I measured them with a tape measure (from the outer lip) and the 87 pulley is 2-1/8&quo...

I was hoping that there was some sort of software thing I could run that would force output from itunes to the rear and block other sources from using the rear speakers. I'm not too into using 2 sound cards. Its not a big deal though. Just something I was wondering.

Computer audio question

I like to listen to music when I play Counterstrike but it annoys me when the audio for the game and the music come out of the same speakers. I have a 4.1 surround setup on my computer. Is it possible to have the game sounds only on the front speakers and the music only on the rears?

Getting the alternator out isn't really tearing the car apart. However, you should not ASSUME that the alternator will come out without a fight. The aluminum bracket has a nasty tendency to let go of its threads when you unscrew the upper bolt. You'll have to remove the bracket (not terribly diffic...

Upon further inspection of the part, I noticed that the alternator box has the part number 7912507 on it. But, the sticker on the alternator with the part number 7912507, has a sticker underneith with the correct part number, 1352-5-7. I'm thinking that maybe Autolite changed the part number. Run th...

Alternator replacement on 87 GT

So I'm finally getting around to fixing the bad alternator on my GT. I figured that while I'm in there, I might as well put the 88 style alternator in since it's really not any extra work. I ordered the replacement plug and this alternator ( link here ). The alternator came today and I'm a little co...

I use the free version of AVG. It seems to work well, I dont have any viruses. Plus, it only takes up about 4mb of ram when sitting down in the system tray.
