Re: Getrag 282 rebuild

Yes Will the noise that is now the clutch was the reason for the rebuild.... I had taken the car apart a month ago for the same noise thinking it was a bad T/O bearing (which was bad) and was out of loctite so I decided to not pull the clutch off the flywheel. I am planning on not performing the reb...

Thanks for all of your advice guys!!!

I found out that there is a local place around here that builds clutches so I am going to check them out. If they don't work out I think I will end up going with the 6-puck metallic.

Well I dug into the trans today and after I split the case and started inspecting everything. I looked over the diff bearings, input shaft and output shaft (only the ones on the bellhousing side) and everything seems to be in very good shape (I will try and snap some more pics tomorrow, it is to dar...

I though they were they same tranny?? What are the differences between the two? Is the 282 the FWD trans?

I guess it is the Muncie, it is the stock 87 Gt 5 speed.

Getrag 282 rebuild

So after looking around and weighing my options I have decided to rebuild the sock trans. I am trying to come up with all of the tools, part numbers, instructions and helpful threads I have come across and link them in one place. I have not started my rebuild yet so I need the help of those who have...

I went to a dyno day where I did 3 pulls and the car had only been running for a month or two so the tune sucked and it was running super rich. It put down around 230hp and 260ft-lbs of torque running 5psi. The car is running much better now but the trans just took a shit so now I have to wait till ...

Hey guys, thanks for all of the suggestions. Not sure if I will have time for the rebuild so I am looking for some FWD trannies locally...... will see what turns up. If it takes to long to find something in decent shape for a good price I think I am going with a 4t65e-hd. jelly2m8 were you able to f...

I am not entirely set on going auto..... I am just sick of pulling this tranny out. Car is on its third throwout bearing now..... First one was the stock shitty one that came with the spec clutch and the second one was another stock one that I had laying around from the engine swap (was new when ins...

Need suggestions on new tranny

Several months ago I was driving home from work and the tranny started to squeal when it was in gear and the clutch was depressed. First thing I though of was the throwout bearing. So after sitting for several months I finally got around to replacing the bearing and once it was apart it was apparent...

Traded it in on a 02 outback sedan with the 3.0L H6. I was getting to many cars and decided to get rid of two of them and get something nice for the wife. I will post a pic or two if I get the chance.

I have been stupid busy with school lately, just took the Fundamental Engineering exam the other weekend. I was having problems with it over boosting because the waste wasn't able to open far enough. I wouldn't say I have read the entire forum but have read almost everything that pertains to MS-II and all of the tuning information found here. It has been a while so I am sure they have added to it :thumbleft:

I have read almost the entire msefi web page and it has a ton of good info. I was just wondering if there were any books on how to maximize your tune or performance tuning.

I mounted my heat exchanger up in front of the rad. The setup came off of a Typhoon. http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l249/TurboFiero/Lower_intercooler.jpg I ran the lines for the intercooler down the drivers side body skirt, and up into the front bumper. http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l249/Turb...
