Re: New Whip...M powerrrrr

Looks like its going to be fun! That car is thankfully easy to work on, esp. compared to a FWD vehicle.

Re: New Whip...M powerrrrr

Shiny muffler....Did it get rid of the metallic exhaust note or make it more pronounced?

Re: New Whip...M powerrrrr

Love that interior, and you got the manual too, very nice. I also really liked the E46 M3, was seriously looking at buying one, test drove a bunch. just couldn't get over the wall at 350hp. Without boost, they can't go any further. That engine has over 100% volumetric efficiency at certain rpms. Wi...

Re: 996tt vs C6 Z06

The Z06 seems like the *smarter* way to go. The 996 is what I want. Will, women aren't a factor into my decision making progress. If they were, at these prices, an F355 convertible or 456 would be pretty tempting. Everything I've seen indicates that the Z06 can be hustled around a track faster than...

Re: Re:

A chica I know has an '03 325i auto. When it's shifted into reverse, the passenger mirror flicks down to show the driver the curb to make it easier to parallel park. Shift back to drive and the mirror flicks back up where it was. That actually gets annoying IMO. We disabled it on a friends E46, whe...

Re: BMW E46 M3 electrical powertrain pinouts

Are you looking for something in particular? I can get you certain pinouts, but the overall wiring diagram is freaking massive. It also transmission options the car has.

Re: BMW advice

I haven't stuck my head under the dash, but my car starts in gear... no clutch switch. Stock AFAIK. Need to get the code to activate the radio. Got a line on the old school keyless entry fobs? I asked at BMW of Charlottesville and was told they were discon. Were they even available for the E34's th...

The Dark Side of Will wrote:Clutch switch for cruise, etc?
Most cars don't have a clutch switch for cruise. I wired in a clutch safety switch to start the car though, mainly to cover my ass (wasn't my car, did it as a job). Easy two wire switch wired in from the park/neutral switch from the auto tranny.

Re: BMW advice

From what I understand, the autoboxes don't do a good job of getting power to the ground. I found a website that described a swap of an 850 six speed manual trans into a 750. Replacing the auto with a stick liberated something like 30 rwhp from the V12. Find yourself a 525 stick and you'll probably...

Might be good for some OEM stuff

http://www.oem-surplus.com/gmwp/pontiac.htm
I was looking through there and found some stuff that might interest you. Brand new shortblocks and such for a good price. They also have new isuzu 5 speeds on there somewhere.

Re: BMW E9 (Car is on Page 2)

A little TLC and that thing will be PIMP! For fun, you need to take it to the local BMW dealer and ask them to do a tune-up. You'll see some techs run.

Re: Going shopping for a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8

So you want to buy a vehicle from a company that just went bankrupt? I would wait a little bit before jumping on that one. I'm not saying that GM won't go down that same road, but the Trailblazer SS has gotten better reviews and has a better interior (which really isn't saying much) that the SRT8.

Re: BMW advice

I need to do more research... if it's the same block casting, that obviously won't be a problem. If it's a different casting, it might be. The blocks are different between the 635 CSI and M6. One is a M30 and the other an S30 block. The M6 is going to be alot harder to find and more $$$$. But is th...

You know you want to. Just do it. On a side note, you se the specs on the new BMW X6 M? 555 hp, 21 lbs of boost into a V8. Crazy shit.

Re: BMW advice

Resized the pics. I have the transmission issue under control. I got the trans apart, but the replacement internal parts it needs + the pain and suffering of taking the cluster apart and putting the trans back together functionally make buying another one a preferrable option. I haven't been too co...

Re: BMW advice

Found the die grinder, so that should go OK. It *looks* like the current tilt will be enough, but we'll see. I'll be working on it over the weekend. I did pull the exhaust out in one peice, but it's in pretty bad shape. I saw the center joint leaking a little on the test drive, so I know that would...

Re: BMW advice

Also make sure that your engine mounts are still in one piece. If not, tilting the engine back will be a bad time to find out that they are separated. If I remember correctly, the sway bar drops real easy.

Re: BMW advice

You can drop the engine as far as it will tilt as long as you take off the fan first. I usually let the engine tilt back as far as it will by itself and then put a pole jack under the front of the engine to get a little more tilt out of it. For the driveshaft, sometimes you have to unbolt the center...

50 bar? That's only 750 psi. That seems pretty low for direct injection. GM's 3.6 uses 4 digit pressure. I have no idea what pressure the VW/Audi FSi engines run.
Sorry, I should have specified that it is pressure at idle. Is the 3.6 wall guided injection?
