Re: If one were going to buy an '88 Formula for track duty..
I don't agree with everything this guy's done, and I think his car overall looks like crap... but this is one way to do it. http://www.fiero.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/084322.html I didn't read closely enough to see if he mentioned wheel bearing problems. I've read through the thread and he's run throug...

Re: Need a new fuel pump
Well the Denso Supra pump is quiet and reliable (so far), but it's not cheap and not an OEM install. The Deatsch Werks 300LPH Fuel Pump seems to be all the rage now, and it's not too expensive ~$170 and should install just like the Walbro. I don't know about noise though..... There's a local with an...

If you didn't see the video, here's a couple of other links to it. I got a good laugh out of it.

Re: If one were going to buy an '88 Formula for track duty..
Sounds like trying to improve the 2.8 might be a waste of your time, then... Better to put the effort into a task that will give you the results you want. I think you're right. I told the guy that I want to buy his car and I'm waiting to hear back. I think what I'll do is build up my spare '88 crad...

Re: If one were going to buy an '88 Formula for track duty..
-oil cooler (any ideas or examples as to how it's done) Actually, I would do this too. Z34 Luminas and some older Corvettes used a nifty oil/water heat exchanger that mounted to the oil filter boss on the block. The oil filter then mounted to the cooler. You'd have to plumb your heater core circuit...

Re: If one were going to buy an '88 Formula for track duty..
I was actually going to make recommendations for the suspension and brakes :-P The '88 weakness is the front hub bearings. The AutoZone front hub bearings are scrap right out of the box. This thread discusses that failure, but is also getting some intelligent discussion from the principal of e-bear...

If one were going to buy an '88 Formula for track duty....
What mods would you do? And I'm not talking about engine swaps and power upgrades. I'm talking more about reliability/survivability stuff to start with. Here's kind of a progressive list of how I would go about things things (assuming all the suspension bits are good): -Aluminum 3-core radiator -upg...

Re: Fuel pump test for high hp fieros
One thing to consider when you're running *WAY* more fuel pump than you need is that that large volume of fuel that's pressurized, warmed by the engine, regulated and depressurized on its way back to the tank is going to make your fuel and fuel tank run significantly warmer than they would otherwis...

Re: Fuel pump test for high hp fieros
The Aeromotive pump. I'm sure the inner workers are different, but the cases look similar. Considering it outflows the much larger Supra pump the smaller space constraints bother me. Conventional thought would lead me to believe smaller pump housings combined with a high volume drive would lend to ...

Re: Fuel pump test for high hp fieros
I'm so tired of noisy Walbro's failing, this looks like a hopped up 255. What looks like a hopped up 255? If I saw this comparison before I bought my Supra pump, I would have bought the Aeromotive pump based on the data shown. I honestly didn't know of it when I was looking for a replacement for my...

Re: FS: '88 Fiero w/ 3800 Turbo swap. Professionally built.
Absolutely adore this car. Though I won't be your buyer, how much are you looking for it? On the other hand, that 1/4mi really shows the Fiero's strengths. The Corvette runs almost a full second slower, but runs 1mph faster at the end. That Fiero must really launch. Or the douche driving the Vette ...

Re: FS: '88 Fiero w/ 3800 Turbo swap. Professionally built.
I've had this on .nl for awhile and now that I have it running, I am trying to really push this to sell. I am pretty much only keeping it on Fiero boards for now as I would really like to have it go to an enthusiast.

FS: '88 Fiero w/ 3800 Turbo swap. Professionally built.
-$9000- Well I've decided that I want to move onto something else. I've owned this Fiero for almost 12 years and have put tens of thousands of dollar into it over the years. I just feel like I need a change. I'm not all too big on going fast anymore and I am looking for something more road-course an...

Re: Blown Brake Master Cylinder?
I hate to say that both the M/C fountain and the leaking are both normal things. I have found that nearly every rebuilt '88 caliper I have ever bought have leaked from either the banjo or the bleeder. The aluminum seems very brittle and both the stock threads and even new helicoils have a hard time ...

Re: Fuel pump test for high hp fieros
+1 Internetz to you! That's a very interesting read. I run the Supra pump, and it's good to see that I'm not going to outflow it anytime soon and it shows that is is a bit of an upgrade over the Walbro for the vast majority of engine swaps in a Fiero (I don't think many people will run over 75psi. T...

Ford makes a nice in-line 5 diesel (190hp/346ftlbs) that they put in the Euro-market Ranger: http://www.autoblog.com/2011/01/06/video-next-gen-ford-ranger-shows-locomotive-force/?icid=maing|main5|dl4|sec2_lnk1|34940 VW makes the Amarok with a 163hp/295ftlbs diesel http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2009/1...

Re: Will's Nightmare
At this point in time, a vehicle with the most utility, reliability, and comfort would be more appealing to me than the worlds most sought after super car. How cool the car is doesn't stack the way it used to for me. I want to go to med school more than I want to own an exotic. That should help you...

Re: TX2K11 videos
People just seem to think that a car with wider tires in front is strange... I don't get it. The Pontiac Grand Prix GXP with the LS4 v8 in it runs 255's in the front and 225's in the rear to help with understeer. But yet the Impala SS wit the LS4, which is damn near the same car underneath runs 235...
