Re: Darkhorizon + a budget more than a hamburger =
heavy ported stock heads.... suspension isnt really "better" than stock... its just more setup for sub 1.5 launching and keeping me straight.... I dont plan on having any control in first gear in terms of correcting a crooked leave. http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/603386_6175468...

Re: Darkhorizon + a budget more than a hamburger =
Just thought I would update. I am putting some new heads/cam and setting up the nitrous for real this winter.... I expect alot more power considering I had a tiny cam and stock heads, without nitrous last year. Suspension wise I put in some solid rod end rear link arms. Also put tubes in my slicks (...

Re: If one were going to buy an '88 Formula for track duty..
I'm not 100% on this yet, but I might be picking up an '88 formula t-top for a very good price. If I go through with this, I'll probably keep my 3800-turbo and commit myself to a life of Fiero-dom....... As much as I hate it... It works.... Every other platform is going to cost more and leave you l...

Re: Fuel pump test for high hp fieros
Are you running extremely high fuel pressures that would cause the pump to slow down to the point that it would burn out? No, and I confirmed again with the manufacture that it was designed for fuel pressures up to 80psi. Have you checked continuity and isolation on each segment of the commutator? ...

What do you mean by "killed"? Yes, they would not turn on, aka, they died.l due to brush/commutator failure. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v491/Toaster_girl/shoescarparts001.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v491/Toaster_girl/shoescarparts002.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: Fuel pump test for high hp fieros
Justin and I have killed 5 "e85 rated" OEM pumps due to brush/commutator failure. Called the manufacture, and they said it was due to an installation in a metal tank, creating an "annode / cathode" ionization situation on the brushes and commutator. The pump I disassembled did ha...

Re: attempt at 9's failed
I have no fears of spending money, i just really did not want to spend money in places i did not need it. I still feel that my stock springs/shocks are up to the task, but I would like to increase my street traction by getting the shocks adjusted a bit better, and a longer, possibly progressive rat...

I had .4 negative toe on each side when I did the alignment... should it have been positive?Matt Hawkins wrote:Perhaps add a little toe in on the rear and make sure the fronts are zero toe. That should help higher speed wandering.

Re: attempt at 9's failed
Was the car stable when you had the tire pressure higher? Did the problem only surface when you lowered the pressure to hook? Rock steady when I had 20psi in the tires running full boost. Decent when I ran a 11.1 on 14psi earlier that day on 15psi of tire pressure. Not running tubes yet... Probably...

88... old poly long arm bushings, factory 100k mile solid control arm bushings, 20k mile adjustable control arm bushings. Factory struts seem work pretty good, I never wheel hop and it does not bounce around at all... $400 koni's do not interest me that much, and the factory spring's spring rate is ...

shocks, struts, springs & bars? Factory everything, bushings are sorta scary on both sides.... Need to torch off the non adjustable control arms on each side some how, or at least sawzall them. By bars, I assume you do not mean wheeliebars? It handles very nice until it gets to a good MPH. The ...

I got my antilag working, commanding -14 degrees of timing at the line gave me the ability to cut a handful of 1.6 60fts last night. Car was running amazing around 12:! afr, but by the time I got into 3rd gear I lost confidence in the poor fiero.. The bias ply slicks on the rear were swaying severel...

Re: COMPACT 90 degree mufflers
Would be a good addition to a existing swap exhaust, but I doubt anything that size would work to quiet it much. Most of us use the resonated exhaust tips to help.
I am thinking about trying to get some actuated baffles near the tips similar to the c6z.

Re: Darkhorizon's GRM 2010 build!
Due to situations out of my control, we were not able to sanely sign up for the race. Transportation and funding issues on all sides I suppose were the big issues.
I may still be able to save the project, but that is still up in the air.
