Re: the pig rig?
I hadn't touched the L31... it needed an oil pan, when dad and I pulled the engine, it took a healthy smack'n, and I decided it wasn't worth the effort to fix it, the plan was to pull the pan off of the engine in the truck, but I also want to be able to just put it in and be done, so I bought a pan ...

I'm currently hoping to run the main drain plumbing for the new bathroom, and kitchen sink, like so: https://i.imgur.com/wlCbJh0.png the star represents the tie in to the existing plumbing, the burgundy diamond represents a planned cleanout location, and the gray diamond indicates a location I would...

not really yet, if it becomes something that will be a project for me, I'll rename the thread. at this point, my principle objective is to make it start, stop, and drive relatively safely. this little bit of paint work was done on "Break" while I was working on the house. I did put the che...

Re: really dude?
The car was rattle can primer painted by the previous owner, but not very well, and the underlying topcoat paint wasn't scuffed up much. I sprayed it with some brake clean, and found the primer rubbed off with a little effort, so over the past couple of days, while working on my house, when I needed...

sorry I hadn't gotten a new prototype over, not going to lie, I kinda forgot about it, been juggling a bunch of stuff lately. I'll probably redraw the mount with slotted holes to make it at least a little adjustable.

because the bathroom with the "X" on it below is going away, I decided it would be a great idea to try and get the bathroom with the circle on it cleaned up enough to use... https://i.imgur.com/c2GIYod.png I started scrubbing and cleaning and checking things out, everything worked, but the...

ugh... more masonry, and of course there's a brick in each course that isn't standard... https://i.imgur.com/31IEc65.jpg I have and old circular saw that was cheap, and crappy, so I bought a diamond masonry blade for it, and cut down one brick for each course, then I proceeded to start mixing mortar...

I picked up a stoopid cheap(175 shipped) differential for the car, it's an OBX knockoff of the Quaife. I've heard that the older versions needed work to make them functional, I'm not sure of the differences yet, but I plan on taking this one apart either way, as it needs to be cleaned before I will ...

Re: dura-pig? durpig?
I mean, other than it being rare, is there value in the 3.21 rear? Why the 6L90 and not an A1000? size? I haven't decided on a name, I kinda like durapig, but I'm not settled on anything. I'm hoping to have some time this weekend to cut up the chassis in the garage and get the bulk of it out of the...

Re: dura-pig? durpig?
I kinda thought this was worth sharing in this thread, LB7 duramax, left, late 80's 454, right. an LB7 is around 1000 pounds, making it about 300 pounds heavier than my 454, I inquired in a FB group about the weight difference, and the consensus was the 454 springs work fine in this application. htt...

Re: really dude?
Water pump is off, I have a serpentine belt drive kit for a smallblock, so I figured there's no time like the present to put it on, it will require me to adjust the harness a little bit, but I'm ok with that, I need to make a couple of wiring repairs anyways. Because the previous owner removed the A...

Re: dura-pig? durpig?
My dad's 1990 original diesel chassis currently has a Cad500 w/ 4L80 & 14BFF. I'm torn between converting it to 58x controls and adapting a 6L90, maybe with a built Caddy vs installing a later van Duramax with 6L90. The Duramax is so much heavier and more work, but the truck is an original dies...

Re: dura-pig? durpig?
The SquareMax kit is not your cup of tea? it's plan b, if I can work it out easy enough with parts I already have, I would prefer to do so. The squaremax kit is nice, but it's also very pricey, $1600 for a pair of mounts and a trans crossmember is a bit much for my current budget. I do want to say,...

Re: really dude?
I installed the regulator before going into work monday, I was disappointed, but not surprised when the rear most fitting tried to occupy the same space as the engine mount. I kinda thought that might be a problem, but didn't adequately prepare for it. last night I made a little block to space it fo...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.
I had a second, so I measured the deflection of mine as well, I'm getting around .020 vertical, I probably could have pushed the pedal a bit harder, but it seemed to deflect to .020 and then stop flexing.

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.
Are you sure it's not the brake booster flexing? On my 88 I get 0.035" vertical deflection of the brake master cylinder with full pedal force. As much as I can generate. 150 lbs? 200 lbs? did you check horizontal deflection too? this is an interesting observation, I know in my car, it appears ...

Re: really dude?
I installed a new fuel tank, it came with the car. so it made sense to use it instead of trying to swap to a 4th gen tank, I however, did not have a sending unit. being that I want to eventually make the car EFI, I elected to put a sender in that has provisions for a fuel pump. little did I know the...

another car? %) it's time I actually start documenting this one a bit... For a while, I've had an 87 Firebird sitting in the back yard, a while being a year plus. over that time, I've been casually eyeing it up, and trying to come up with a plan, but placing no priority on it whatsoever. this is the...

Re: dura-pig? durpig?
with some careful consideration, I've come up with what I believe to be a straightforward, and inexpensive way to mount the duramax in the C20 Chassis. since i have the whole 2500hd chassis, I can just cut the whole engine crossmember out and use it to mount the engine in it's stock 2003 spec mounts...
