couldnt

I didnt have the rods from the other head so that wasnt an option. I just assume that they were different because you dont adjust the lash on those valves.

2.5L Pushrods

Did the length of the pushrods change from 84 to 86? I just installed an 86 head on my 84 block head and they click really bad so I would guess yes. Anyone have any information on that?

Thanks

there is no valve lash on an L4, you just torque them to spec.

Anyone see a problem with this? After bolting everything down and hooking it all back up it doesnt so much run right anymore any id...

Basically you are correct. However I replaced the head gasket and the car is now funtioning at a normal operating temperature. Hoorah! Yay I can now park my truck and get 20 mpg again. Good thing St Louis gas prices jumped 17 cents just in time for 4th of July.... price gouging anyone? Thanks for th...

Thats for sure. Although parts arent too bad. To change the head gasket it cost me about 50 bucks... and about 8 hours. That includes dinner and the occational sitting on my ass drinking a beer because you can only sit in a Fiero trunk bent over the engine compartment for so long.

water pump

got all ready to replace the head gasket and noticed that the weep hole in the water pump was leaking. Replaced the water pump and the overheating stopped. Still dont understand how something simple like a water pump stops pumping but i suppose it did. Motor idled for awhile and didn't overheat so I...

DAMN that would happen right after filled my garage with car! I just picked up a 89 Firebird Formula for 400 bucks the other day. It has wiring issues but supposedly runs great. We'll see. Now I have to either put the bird outside or wire it to make room for the Fiero. Meanwhile getting 10 mpg in my...

2.5L overheating

I have an 84 that is overheating. I was driving it a couple weekends ago and noticed it was running hot (220) but it wasnt getting any hotter so I pulled over at the next exit to get some coolant, apparently the top left radiator hose developed a pin hole and had drained enough coolant out to make i...

Idle wander

When you start the car cold it high idles at about 2500 rpm until it warms up and when it does warm up it idle wanders between 700 - 1200 it will sit on 1000 but then will drop and recover. My question is if somebody has a suggestion on what might cause this and if ...

Headlight relay info

I am messing around with my headlight relays on my 84 and after much troubleshooting have realized that the isolation relay and the other 2 are not the same. Does anyone have a part number for the isolation relay so I might be able to get that one from my local parts store instead of going to the fi...

E-brake cable

I had to relace the rear brake calipers last year and need some advise on how to adjust the ebrake cable. I know I saw a post on that subject at one time but I can no longer find it. If somebody could get me a link or just let me know how to adjust that it would be nice to be able to use it again. T...
