Re: '88 upper control arm cross shaft removal

I just chopped it in the middle with a dremel ( because I don't have a grinder or anything ) and the new shaft from the fiero store fits through the sleeves without having to remove them.

Center Brake Light - Too hot!

I recently replaced my center brake light with the usual 889 lamp. The guy at autozone had to check for himself to be sure I knew what I was talking about, and he says they're usually used in fog lights. It melted my original housing, and it's working on my current one. I wonder if any of you have f...

Re: New end links installed. More bushings coming soon.

My bad, I forgot to follow up with how it went. I got all the bushings installed. Burning the old ones out worked just like everyone said, beautifully. I used a dremel/wire wheel to clean out the metal sleeve. I don't have the means to remove the sleeves so I just cut the old pivot arm in half and s...

Re: New end links installed. More bushings coming soon.

Be careful taking the nut off of the passthrough bolt. I broke the end off once, it wasn't easy finding another '88 locally to find the specialty bolt. The fierostore also mentions that they'll break a lot of times, so I ordered a new pivot arm, the paddle nut thing, and the bolts for them at the s...

Re: New end links installed. More bushings coming soon.

BTW, any tricks to getting things apart? Things to watch out for? The upper control arm looks like it will be super easy to get off, but I don't know about 'burning' out the old bushings. The lower control arm has the spring, shock, and swaybar link. Can I get the bushings on that out without having...

New end links installed. More bushings coming soon.

I'll probably install the upper and MAYBE lower control arm bushings in the next few days. I also got the pivot arm, paddle nut assy., and bolts.

That's good. It's interesting to see the video from the driver side glass accident, I remember when you were asking about replacing the door. Also, your time lapse video's are the shit! I left a comment. Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy those videos :D I got a new window installed. Still looking for a mi...

Re: Looks like I get to replace the starter now! :(

I like how you use the pop rivet gun! Did you use submersible fuel hose, the special coated line that doesn't deteriorate? Hehe, it's useful! I chunked the bit of hose that whoever shop used on that old pump and used the bit of hose that came with the Bosch pump. it came with a couple of nice clamp...

Re: Looks like I get to replace the starter now! :(

OK I got my new Bosch fuel pump installed since it came in last night! MY CAR RUNS 1000% BETTER NOW!! :D The mechanic that installed the fuel pump in my car neglected to use hose clamps on the hose between the pump and the line. It was really loose, probably circulating fuel in the tank. New pump is...

Re: Looks like I get to replace the starter now! :(

you don't need to jack up the front of the car, just the rear. I just jacked up the rear like a foot or so enough to slide under and to undo the tank straps and hoses. The tank isn't tall, so if you can get under, you should be able to get the tank out I got a pair of ramps when I got the starter. ...

Re: Looks like I get to replace the starter now! :(

Well I hope it's genuine. I'll order one next week and see what happens, or maybe I'll email Bosch and see what they say. I have no idea what brand of fuel pump was installed in my car last year, but this problem has been since day one that it was installed, so mom says. I was using the ALDL connect...

Re: Looks like I get to replace the starter now! :(

when I put in my 255 I prob had the car about 1- 2 feet in the air. Just high enough for me to crawl under, and enough room to slide the tank out when I dropped it down. The tank isn't that heavy when its empty or nearly empty. I'll need another pair of jackstands and some cement blocks. Raise one ...

Re: Looks like I get to replace the starter now! :(

I don't see how that can possibly be genuine at that price. economy of scale? More along the lines of "whole sale of recall product". Try it out, what could it hurt, I'm sure it will carry a warranty. It was recalled? got a link for that? Google search for 'bosch fuel pump recall&q...

No? Seems like a pretty average price for that pump on different sites. economy of scale?

I'm liking what I'm seeing here. I can definitely hear noise from the pump when I'm driving.

Re: Looks like I get to replace the starter now! :(

I get nothing for PSI unless I crank for several seconds (or manually the fuel pump after the 2 second cutoff)

How high do I have to get the car before I can get the tank out?

Re: Looks like I get to replace the starter now! :(

Fuel pressure vibrates between 20 and 30 at idle. it holds steady at 22 when I hold it revved up some.

Re: Looks like I get to replace the starter now! :(

I don't have a gauge. I wonder how much Autozone charges for that...

Edit: $45. Of course, the engine decides to run perfectly from the moment I get in and go to the store and come back. wtf.

Re: Looks like I get to replace the starter now! :(

I replaced all the vacuum lines when I replaced the injectors. I replaced them with the steel bent kit from thefierostore. I need that rubber T connector though because there *IS* a hole in it. I covered the hole with some orange RTV. the rpms don't change when I spray carb cleaner around the engine...
