Re: Powdercoated block / filling pinholes
I didn't really think the 300 rating would be a deal breaker either, whatever I do use to fill the pinholes will be performing the role of a sealant more than that of an actual coating. It will be protected from abrasions or impact by the powdercoat.

Powdercoated block / filling pinholes
I have an engine block that has been powdercoated, and I would like to keep it looking nice for as many years as possible. http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/4733/imgp1093.jpg The problem is that it looks like the block was not prepped well enough, and the finish is completely full of pinholes. http...

Re: Super-fast ratio ZR1 power steering rack in '88
By the way, does anyone here have an '88 Fiero steering rack sitting out they can take some measurements of for me? I do too, I measured the width for you and got roughly 28 5/8" measuring to where the inner tie rods bottom out. http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/179/imgp1092.jpg On the subjec...

Just curious, what is far superior about his bushings? I would have expected them all to have the same dimensions?

Also, I'd like to see pics of this too! Have you gotten the brakes installed? Or do you have some older pictures of the suspension even?Datsun1973 wrote:I'll post up some pictures of my entire rear end with bell crank QA1 shocks and full true IRS once I finish the 12" wilwood brakes this weekend.

Re: Aluminum suspension tubes-- 88 Rear Suspension with Rod Ends
The rod ends are greased through the shank. I have not seen these available commercially. It looks like Out-Pace Racing takes a non-greased rod end and drills the shank through to the race (with the ball turned so the drill can pass through the center without harming it). That's interesting, I was ...

That may be true, but they're not very exciting. I'm a sucker for the small bits of high tech on my otherwise out-dated cars. The Dark Side of Will wrote:The '88 calipers are already pretty light.

Re: New Old Stock Brake Pads
Plus he would'nt want to add 10 tons of brake parts on his car. I'd be pretty unhappy adding 10 pounds of brake parts to my car unless I really needed to. The stock 88 brakes seem perfectly adequate to me. If I had to go larger, I would take the opportunity to go to 2 piece rotors and aluminum cali...

Re: New Old Stock Brake Pads
I've received my calipers from calipersonline. I had assumed for some reason that they would be NOS product from GM, but they are not. They are aftermarket calipers, manufactured by Cambro Products, and have an assembly date of May 2005. So I expect the pads they come with are acceptable. The Pads h...

New Old Stock Brake Pads
I'm replacing my front calipers with NOS loaded units from calipersonline. I know that pad material has improved considerably in the last twenty years, so should I replace the pads right away, or do you think I could run the OEM pads that come with them? This is on an 88GT that's a daily driver, and...

Re: Question on TiAL 38mm thread size
I wonder how different Canada is from the US in this matter. We don't have Ace, but places like Home Depot, or at least my home depot, are pretty much useless for anything other than the most basic fittings and hardware. What we do have, are a multitude of other stores that cater specifically to tha...

Re: Fuckin alternater!
I saved the alternator off my '97 Bonneville, because it was perfect for me the whole 4 months I had the car. It's an odd-looking thing though. Did you sell the car without an alternator? (Because that would be hilarious) When the alt died on my 88, I was busy as hell for weeks before I had a chanc...
