Re: progress on the banshee...

Went to cars an coffee the other day, they took a picture of my car... https://i.imgur.com/lFBRp4B.jpg I drove the Fiero every day that my blue truck was down for repairs, it did well, but I still have a ton of stuff I would like to do, including install the line lock I bought 5 years ago... origina...

Re: the pig rig?

I cleaned the rest of the pistons for the L31, Hopefully over the next week, I can spend a little time in the garage, clean up the block, and then assemble the short block. In other, less important news, I cut down a set of stock 8 lug hubs for a 8.5" ten bolt front axle, similar to how the dan...

Re: dura-pig? durpig?

So, we left off with a frame that had been cut in half, and then welded back together, which still needed front spring hangers made, and the axle moved forward. I cleaned up the garage, and one of the things I intended on doing, was making some swift headway on getting the durapig moving along again...

dura-pig? durpig?

I gave it some thought, and figured it was time to break apart the suburban threads. This thread is for the Duramax GMT800 Frame swap progect started when I bought a 1986 C20 Suburban here: https://www.realfierotech.com/viewtopic.php?p=161133#p161133 here is most of the pertinent info from that thre...

Re: Multi link rear suspension tow rig.

that kinda depends. there are off the shelf angle shims for setting pinion angle, as long as it's within a reasonable amount of misalignment.

Re: time/effort saving tools

Might not be a bad idea, or I should take notes on which cleaning solutions are effective, and what they are effective on, and maybe find one that works great for both.

Brake system hydraulics.

Specifically, the combination valve and master cylinder. My understanding is that the combination valve is supposed to shift to isolate the front or rear brakes in the event of a blown hose, however, I thought this was also the whole idea behind modern master cylinders having tandem pistons, each pi...

Re: Multi link rear suspension tow rig.

Then use two front frame halves for four wheel independent suspension AND Quadrasteer   because that would be totally easy and quick... I had been giving this a ton of thought, and I think I'll most likely end up moving the spring hangers, the solution is the simplest, and requires the ...

Re: time/effort saving tools

here are some shots of two 60v6 heads, both had about the same amount of grime before going in the sink. https://i.imgur.com/GkrXdKN.jpg I'm not sure if it's the solution, or the ultra sonic action, but it eats carbon up. https://i.imgur.com/Am4aIHT.jpg https://i.imgur.com/u6dO78n.jpg https://i.imgu...

Re: time/effort saving tools

I don't know the particulars of the controller until/unless I take it apart, but the stampings look all the same, and the control layout is either identical or some have a button or two added that other don't have, but are otherwise the same. Does the timer function derive from populating the same ...

Re: Multi link rear suspension tow rig.

If you're just looking for a softer ride, install 1/2 ton leaf springs. If you still need to carry load, install helper air bags. It's definitely on the list of considerations, a downside to multi link is that I don't think I would be able to convert to quad steer with it, that said, quad steer is ...

Re: time/effort saving tools

Can you fit a cylinder head in one of those? A 60v6 head does fit. Can you fit a cylinder head in one of those? Tank dimensions are 19.7x11.8x7.9 (500x300x200) All the "consumer grade" 30L units come out of the same factory in China... the only differences I've seen across Amazon and eBay...

time/effort saving tools

a while back I said I was going to post results of how well my ultra sonic sink worked, so I figured I would start a thread for tools we think are worth mentioning for there time, or labor saving advantages. I put this piston in the sink yesterday, the temperature of the sink was 18 C. I set the sin...

Re: Multi link rear suspension tow rig.

That is a fair point, the Pig Rig doesn't have a terrible ride, and has 4 corner leaf springs. I'm not dead set on 4 linking the chassis, more just considering options before I draw and build spring hangers. I've also considered what I have heard referred to as a "truck arm" suspension, si...

Re: Multi link rear suspension tow rig.

Thought about it, Only the half tons got multi link suspensions, and the 2500 truck frame is significantly different than a suburban frame.

Multi link rear suspension tow rig.

Most heavy duty trucks run leaf springs, I've been thinking alot about my DMax suburban project, and how to go about making it ride better than a tank... In that particular project, I need to move the axle forward about 12" to get the wheelbase where it needs to be, I had been thinkin I would j...

It appears that sluppy123 only answers messages when he has good news, otherwise, radio silence. After some unanswered messages, sluppy123 told me last Thursday that he received the raw material: 1.png On Monday, he told me the replacement hub was done: 2.png So it may show up, possibly... Re: rear sway bar?

Thanks for the replies, at this point, I drive the car alot, but if I can make it corner better with such a simple add on, then I don't want to leave that off the table.
