Ya vibrating V8's in peoples SUV's isn't exactly what the common public wants.
If you shut off an entire bank with a true dual exhaust then the cat gets cooled off, and has to re light off once you re activate the cylinders on that bank.

Pumping losses aside, in the OE spectrum of things leaving valves open of deactivated cylinder does one big no no; pump unburned air into the exhaust. All the OE systems leave the valves closed... Ya my wording was odd. I was just saying that besides pumping losses, OE's leave them closed...

Pumping losses aside, in the OE spectrum of things leaving valves open of deactivated cylinder does one big no no; pump unburned air into the exhaust. Your O2 sensor sees this as a huge huge lean condition, jacks up the injector pulse widths and now the whole point of turning off half of your cylind...

I am sure you know this, but the main reason GM did the variable cam phasing on the V8's was to help pass emissions standards while making more power than the earlier engines, as well as help interface with the DoD system. I would agree that playing with the phasing to change the DCR would be fun th...

Most race engines that are using a full coated combustion chamber are using a fuel boils at below 0F and have octane rating of over 100, so detonation isn't a problem for them. Will, I would coat your pistons and leave it for now. Then like you said, pull heads and coat for experimental purposes, at...

I agree that when you coat the backside of the valve, obviously the seating area needs to be coating free to allow heat transfer into the valve seat. What I was getting at was that when you coat the backside of the valve, you will reduce the flux of heat through the valve by keeping the heat in the ...

I have seen ceramic coated valve faces, the backsides of the valves but as far as the stem that actually contacts the guide, the only coating i have seen is an anti friction coating for obvious reasons. The only real reason to coat the backside of the valve is to keep heat in the exhaust gases for o...

Why not just forget about a fuel at all and built a completely electric car? If you are using it for just around town driving, charging overnight would be ample time. Hydrogen isn't worth anything unless its in a fuel cell, burning it isn't worth the trouble when ethanol is much easier to make, come...

Car isn't wrecked, just was a parts car for me and I have gotten what I need from it.

You want the front cross member and all? I could ship that, not sure if that would be worth it but its possible.

Rear cradle is mine:)

Having the information in hand, on paper is worth so much more time than having it on a computer.
We always print out our SI diagnostics and schematics and then go to the car with them.
