Re: 88 L36 swap

Great looking car Jelly!!

I'll also vouch for the bigger booster, I like having it for a daily.

Oh I misunderstood, the new shifter is a GA shifter. My mistake. Carry on.

Re: Gran Damn

Probably not possible, but could you move all the stuff over from the Cobalt shifter to the GA shifter base? Let me know if you have any questions switching the 60* bellhousing over the XFE F23. I'm curious how the transmission mounts will be compatible. If you tear this car apart and don't have it ...

Fieros Forever in Michigan would probably benefit from a copy.

Re: Corvette caliper brackets for 88 front?

They both are now. It was 2010 when I was told there were two left in Texas. They are gone now. I stripped one recently and had to do machine work on it because there isn't one left in the United States, for either side. In regards to the OP, the C5 and C6 parts are too heavy and not necessary for s...

"Made in Germany", you just added a lot of value to that car. Pedals and shifter left to go.

Re: WK Grand Cherokee Diesel

Is it a situation where the panel knows it can't command cold air and doesn't want to shower you with warm ambient air in the summer? Our Lexus monitors engine and ambient temp and won't turn on the blower until the coolant reaches a specific heat in the cold so that it isn't blowing cold air on the...

Re: Corvette caliper brackets for 88 front?

Yes. :) The C4 rotors are shaped kind of like a bowl and bow in towards the control arms putting them in contact with the lower control arms. The Viper rotors would interfere with the shock mounts on the earlier cars. They also had a bolt pattern that when drilled with the 5x100 pattern looked very ...

Re: Corvette caliper brackets for 88 front?

I'm with ya. It really depends on how large the wheels you are using are. Here's a picture of Yellowstone's car with 13" viper rotors and the twin piston vette calipers. He had some room left over, but he had a huge wheel space to work with.

Re: Corvette caliper brackets for 88 front?

Don't FieroGuru's kits use C *4* rotors? No. You should be able to use C4 calipers, although those are a bit on the big/heavy side as well. Not really. Attached is a picture I took ten years ago comparing an '88 front Fiero caliper with an '88 non HD double piston Vette caliper. Even though the Vet...

Re: WK Grand Cherokee Diesel

Get a gauge on the AC low and high sides. What you're describing sounds like a classic low refrigerant condition. I bet adding a little bit will stop tripping the low side switch. It's more that something is always broken on them. Curious if you've circled back to this post and realized he was right?

Re: Speedo problems. Not working

No, it doesn't. It's been years since I've looked but the PCM never conditioned the signal on any of the factory cars. The V6 cars speedometer conditioned the signal (halved it right?) for the cruise control module, but the signal was tee'd between the speedometer and the computer. If you take the c...

Shaun, that's the wisest thing you've said in literally 20 years of reading your posts. Can you also CC Will on that message?

Eric, drive the wheels off that thing. Once you start upgrading it the entire point of having a beater is defeated. "If it aint broke..."

Re: '84-'87 Rear Tie Rod Mounting Location to Reduce Bump Steer

Everything. It's a FWD cradle flipped 180* and mounted backwards. It was never designed to be in the back of a car, much less a sports car. The difference between the older suspension and the newer is night and day. My little brother used to own an 86 GT that had a lot of stuff done to the cradle in...

Re: '84-'87 Rear Tie Rod Mounting Location to Reduce Bump Steer

The rear 84-87 cradle and suspension is really bad. You should look into transplanting an '88 cradle and suspension. Especially if this is your daily. 10-4, that makes this seem like a much more reasonable undertaking now. I was envisioning my backyard setup and cringing. That little cauldron in you...

Re: '84-'87 Brake Dust Shields

They specifically protect the rotor face from pitting and scaring. Imagine a grain of sand hitting the side of a red hot rotor during hard braking, clinging, and being drawn between the rotor surface and the pad. Those shields do actually increase the life of the rotor. That said you can get away wi...

Will, can't you see the dollar bill in the picture? It's not a Franklin, it's just a Washington. Shaun's using his mothers basement for this, he doesn't have time for Tony Robins and Greta Thunberg. :friends:

Pictures of coated gun parts please.
