Re: Lz9 + 4 spd manual trans in 86 GT swap
It's gonna run a microsquirt amp. Vvt is being deleted for simplicity of swap I have yet to see anyone who kept vvt with an micro or megasquirt do a Dyno to see where their power peaks. However j upon did dynod his with his modified vvt and it wasn't dialed in correctly. I believe power fell off be...

Re: Lz9 + 4 spd manual trans in 86 GT swap
Are the block casting numbers different? It doesn't look like there's enough iron to move that bolt hole outboard 4mm The earlier blocks have the bolt pattern the same as the 2.8. there is no need to move the bolt hole out further Eric is saying the lz9 is out a bit further. But it's close enough w...

Re: 1988 Fiero track car
The shift (fore/aft) cable is quite stiff in bending because it has to be strong enough in compression to handle the synchro loads during a max effort shift. The select (left/right) cable is much smaller and more flexible, since it only has to be able to push through the bias spring that keeps the t...

I thought the 3900 had the upper water manifold at the back. I guess I was wrong about that.
Are the water manifolds two separate pieces or one large cover as with the Gen II & III engines?

I must have gotten my wires crossed about which bolt hole is there and which is moved on the GenIV blocks then.
What else is the bracket attached to? One bolt ain't gonna work.

Re: Lz9 + 4 spd manual trans in 86 GT swap
Gotta trim/grind the front mount like you do on the dohc 3.4 swaps. I also trimmed some excess webbing on the oil pan. A bit off the pan and a bit off the mount instead of it all off the mount. But that's it. IMG_20231115_133433017.jpg https://realfierotech.com/download/file.php?id=1649 Had to slot...

This requires adjusting the pinion angle on the axle, which is much less easy.pmbrunelle wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 11:33 am
I suppose that with a leaf spring, you can tune it by rotating the spring in the pitch axis, so the axle moves back a bit with bumps.

Re: time/effort saving tools
Not bad:) I was hoping it would get the coolant out of the passages as well but maybe more time would do it. Some cleaners def work better on carbon than others. Maybe Eric needs a "coolant cleaning tank" and a "carbon cleaning tank" instead of "dirty" and "clean&...

I don't know the particulars of the controller until/unless I take it apart, but the stampings look all the same, and the control layout is either identical or some have a button or two added that other don't have, but are otherwise the same. Does the timer function derive from populating the same c...

Can you fit a cylinder head in one of those? Tank dimensions are 19.7x11.8x7.9 (500x300x200) All the "consumer grade" 30L units come out of the same factory in China... the only differences I've seen across Amazon and eBay are the quality of the drain valve and the artwork on the control ...

If you're just looking for a softer ride, install 1/2 ton leaf springs. If you still need to carry load, install helper air bags.

Steven has ~450ish rear springs, and still added a bar. Also has 275 width ~200TW tires. The stock Formula setup includes a fairly large front bar and the stock rear bar along with (I think) the same springs as every other '88 has. The rear springs are slightly softer than '84-'87 stock springs (150...
