Re: FIERO LAND SPEED
I have topped out at 100MPh too in my Quad 4 car, because of the front end geting very wandery. I also have the formula bumpers, and with the front spoiler missing, my bumper has more clearance under it than the underbody of the car.

Re: What is this in my cylinders?
Did you buy the engine like that? If so, someone could have poured seafoam or something like that down the cylinders, or even diesel, to free up a siezed motor.

Re: Iron Duke Question
84's that had the engine replaced under warranty got an 86 casting motor, but made in 88. My 84 was like that, it had the roller cam, but also had the 88 crank with the gear in the middle for the oil pump.

Re: hydraulic engine mounts
The Quad 4 uses them on the front of the motor on the early mount style. They too tear easily, and are not cheap to replace, $150-$200 each!!

Re: Starting a 2.0L w/ pics
http://www.kahines.com/ Go to photogallery > my cars > 84 simply red coupe. His car has a 2.0L swap, may be worth contacting him if you needed help. As far as I know very few people have done this. My dad did the exact swap in his 84. He used an 87 Cavalier motor, then put the Isuzu 5-speed behind ...

This is a real engine swap
This guy did an engine swap the proper way, have a look at the hundreds of pictures, very well done, and looks very stock when done:

Re: I had a short break-down today. Kind of interesting story.
I have had something simmialr. A few weeks ago I was autocrossing and it was about 32C outside, car ran fine, but when I started it up about 20 minutes later, I could hear my fuel pump making loud noises, and the engine stumbling when it was doing that. It cleared up after about 10 seconds. I am run...

Re: V6 exhaust?
They are just making sure you are using the correct way to lift the car, support it, and being safe about it. Lots of people just lift their car up with a hydraulic jack and work underneath it. You need jackstands to support the car because a hydraulic jack can just drop the car on you if it fails. ...

Trip to BC 1400KM
Just got back from a road trip to Blue River, BC, with a stop in Jasper, AB. I'll post some pics later, but it is very fun driving on nice windy mountain roads :-D . I took my 86 Fiero with the Quad 4 HO, and upgraded suspension. All in all, I did 1385KM round trip, and averaged about 39MPG with a p...

Re: Troubles with cruise
I am thinking it is bad, I got mine from the junkyard a few months ago, cant even remember what vehicle, just that it was a FWD GM. I got another one from a 99 Grand Am. How do you test them? My GF has a 99 Grand Am V6 with cruise, I was thinking of just plugging into that. I may do that with the ne...

Re: Troubles with cruise
Ok, I have everything wired up as per the instructions, and all wires check out fine at the cruise connector, and still I got no workie, so either the module is no good, or ms VSS signal has to be reduced to a 5V signal.
I had way less troubles doing the wiring on my engine swap than this. lol

Re: Troubles with cruise
Concerning the brake relay, the electronic stand-alone cruise control modules need two brake switch inputs in order to work. One input (ppl wire) needs to see 12v + voltage with the ign key on and no brakes applied and needs to see that signal drop to GROUND when brakes are applied; and the other (...

Re: Troubles with cruise
The only thing I have hooked up to my ECM VSS signal is my speedometer, I am using no buffer as I am using a Pontiac Sunbird instrument cluster which has a 1 wire speedo in it. My VSS is the magnet one used on later models, I knew it was different from the Fiero style, just couldnt remember what typ...

Troubles with cruise
I am trying to install the later model GM electronic cruise in my 86 Fiero, which never had cruise to start with, but I cannot get it to do anything. I am running a Quad 4 HO with a 5-speed getrac (with optical VSS), and a 1990 Grand AM Quad 4 HO ECM last 3 digits on the ECM are 404. Everything is w...

N* Hudson
Had our car show here in Westlock on the weekend, I didnt really take any pics, just video's, but this car stood out, it was a 52 or 54 something Hudson 2 Door Coupe, it had been chopped I think, and had all the power goodies inside like power windows front and rear, and full carpeted interior, nice...

Re: 2002 SS Camaro vs 2010 SS Camaro
I have seen a few around here, and the body looks cheap to me. It is all one color and fairly bland, especially the back, all flat with 4 tailllights cut out. The grille is a cheap plasticy dull grey, and the rest of the car is painted and just bland. Hell the license plate bracket on the one pictur...

Re: Quad 4/Hybrid Swap For Fun Commuter?
I used the 90-91 style mounts, using the stock hydraulic front mount from the Quad 4 and the stock Quad 4 rear mount, and stock rubber Fiero tranny mounts.
