Just paid the invoice, so the manifolds and Y-pipe should be on their way back today or Tuesday

Re: Lz9 rotating assembly weights

The SBC started off with 2.000" rod journals, then went to 2.100" rod journals. The 4.3 at some point (IIRC) had 2.250" journals to help with crankshaft stiffness because it had split crank throws. IIRC, the 4.3 started off odd-fire, then later GM split the journals to make it even-fi...

Re: Lz9 rotating assembly weights

So the big end would need to be narrowed like a typical SBC rod when converting to our engines as the LS engines have a similar rod width to the old sbc rod It seems that the coating comes off the rods at the big end, since that's where the rods in a stock V8 application share a rod journal, so the...

Re: Lz9 rotating assembly weights

If you go used, you probably could find a set of Ti rods, on a budget. This one is $1,250: https://www.ebay.com/itm/266472618709?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=a2Ts-uUeSvq&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY I would be very cautious about u...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

I decided I had gotten everything done that I reasonably could on the stand and it was time to pull the engine off the stand and start assembling the driveline. Here's the "fully dressed" weight: https://i.imgur.com/xaCXauI.jpg?1 Included: Everything from last time PLUS: Exhaust manifolds ...

Re: WK Grand Cherokee Diesel

The outfit says they should be done with the manifolds and Y-pipe by the end of the week, so maybe by the end of next week I'll have them back.

Re: LZ9 and LZ4 Fiero Swap Parts

Most people just modify one of the stock 2.8 brackets, however, I did test fit parts on a LX9 oil pan, and they do fit the same as they do on the LZ4 pan I have, with the exception of the taller vertical part, the LZx version is too short for the older engines. Would a dual use version be as simple...

New clutch, flywheel, and diff have arrived and are being installed https://realfierotech.com/download/file.php?id=1636 I hadn't noticed before, but you went with a Clutch Masters unit. I just came across this by accident https://4pistonracing.com/collections/clutch/products/cm725fk8r https://4pist...

Re: New engine swap just dropped

If I was going to run a super high compression, very expensive engine...I'd probably go over to 4piston and pick up one of their ridiculous 450whp K24 based offerings: https://4pistonracing.com/collections/complete-engines/products/4pr-k24-k480 Oh, damn, aluminum rod and 16:1 as well. Grab that met...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

I have used black silicone vacuum line for protecting harnesses and other tubing from rub areas, I just split it with a razor and zip tie it around the offending harness or hose. It is very flexible, durable, heat resistant, and can be found thin walled and in a large range of sizes and wall thickn...

Re: WK Grand Cherokee Diesel

Oh yeah, I received the intake manifolds a few weeks back and sent them and the off to a Jeep diesel/OM642/Sprinter (weird niche overlapping multiple markets) in CO for port + polish. Currently waiting for them to come back so I can shine up the intake manifolds, have them Cerakoted and send the Y-p...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

After working on the Jeep and going to Navy drill over the last few weekends, I was able to get back to the Northstar last weekend. I finished up the injector wiring. The last thing I need to wire up before I have to put the exhaust manifolds on is the MAP sensor. I had a friend over to help and we ...

Re: New engine swap just dropped

I'm sure with some dollars unfolded they'd build a pump gas version. The concept isn't new in the midget world, and the original SD4 engine was built along these same lines, just not as technologically advanced. Mopar aluminum midget engines have been around for quite a while... just not using anyth...

Re: The Hunt!/Eric's new dump.

I think my plan is going to be to support the roof with temporary structures, take down the walls, bust the perimeter of the slab, dig and pack a reasonable footer, then lay block on top to support the walls, and the roof. unless I can come up with a reasonable way to to get some concrete under the...

Re: The Hunt!/Eric's new dump.

From an erosion standpoint, shouldn't grass help keep that from happening? Do you really need the square footage of the patio area? What about just demolishing it completely and making the house how it was with its old exterior walls? It's inland South Carolina... Pine forests have made the soil so...

Made another sample, this one was almost spot on, except for the vertical member going to the block was still too long, I forgot to correct it when I made the other changes yesterday. https://i.imgur.com/5N65H4y.jpg Can you tighten up the slots? Do you have enough clearance in the hole for the bolt...
