Re: Getting more camber on front 84-87

I think I may have found out the jumping around issue. The rear suspension bolt on the drivers side wheel was broken, allowing the wheel to move forward and backwards 3/4", and also, my front lower ball joint on the passenger side was loose in the a-arm, giving that wheel 1/4" movement. Ta...

Re: Auto'Biography

As for the 2.0L turbo blocks with the auto not working with a 5-speed, my dad has a 1987 Sunbird GT convertible2.0L Turbo motor that was an automatic with a 1990 Sunbird Getrag 282 that also came from a Turbo mounted to it, seems to work fine, and all bolts lined up from what I can remember. The get...

Re: Bizarre Partial Manual Transmission Failure, Can I Save It?

Is there a cable adjustment in the shifter? My tranny is from the exact car you have, but I cant help you with this problem. I doubt Fiero shifter cables will work, they come out of the shifter the wrong side, come to the tranny the wrong side, and are 3X longer. I wonder if there is a bushing or so...

Couple action shots.

Went autocrossing in the wet snow yesterday, was snowing from 5PM on saturday night untill about 10AM on sunday, it accumulated on the grass and stuff, but not on the pavement, the snow turned into rain, that combination and temps just barely above freezing, we went autocrossing. I drove like ass, w...

I believe all Quad 4's with the manual did. At least my 90 Grand am with the Quad 4 HO did, and so did the 91 Beretta GTZ with the HO motor in it did (all HO Quad 4's are manual transmission), I dont know if the LO Quad 4's had the jackshaft. You do know the jackshaft has a male end on both ends rig...

Re: 3800 spark cut limiter

Has anyone ever actually blown up an engine using a fuel cut rev limiter? On a sequential injection engine, hitting a fuel cut means that any cylinder will see a full shot of fuel for one cycle then NOTHING for the next cycle. There is never a lean burn event. On a batch fire engine, the worst you ...

The Dark Side of Will wrote:How do you make sure the straight edge is parallel to the centerline of the car (the bodywork is not)?

The straightedge is the same lenght of the car, so it touches both wheels on the same side at the same time.

Re: Veyron vs Gtr

1/4 mile racing is no way to determine a cars performance. It shows you the ammount of power it can get to the ground, that is it. Does not test, braking, reliability, cornering, aerodynamics, etc... I find it funny that everyone goes all apeshit about 1/4 mile times and speeds. Look at the days of ...

Re: Getting more camber on front 84-87

For toe, I use a straightedge the length of the car that rests against the car at the axle, then measure the difference between the front of the rim and the straightedge and rear of the rim for both wheels. For camber, I use a level that is a few inches longer than the rim, I can make it touch the o...

Re: Getting more camber on front 84-87

Well, looked at the front a-arms, they are not on backwards, compared it to 2 other Fieros, they are also stamped L and R. I did grind the ball joint hole out alittle because the ball joint was hitting the large hole, preventing the ball joing from going all the way negative, now I am at about 0 deg...

Is that the body style with the 4 round headlights? The Integra's are pretty nimble cars, need pics!!

Re: I woke up to this idea

I wonder why all the big diesel engines and heavy trucks use Inline 6 motors, I cant think of any new diesel motor that is in the heavy truck or heavy industry category that is a V configuration. Doesn't bore and stroke have something to do about torque as well, if you think about it, a longer strok...

Re: Getting more camber on front 84-87

I'll maybe look into that. How do I know which side goes on which by looking at it. I wonder if they were reversed when the poly bushings were put in, or even earlier when I replaced the upper a arm rubber bushings.

Re: I woke up to this idea

sorry befarrer, a 383 in a '70 isn't first. GM had already had the 396/402 in their pickups before that. BTW, '70 was the intro of the 454, not just in Chevelles, but also in pickups. GM totally owned Mopar in the trucks back then. Sorry, I was wrong, I researched it, and it was 1964 they had a spo...

Re: 86/2.5/5 speed swap to 84/4 speed

Will have to use the shifter, and shift cables from the 5-speed car, and modify the reverse light wiring. The 84 4-speed has the reverse light switch in the shifter, where the 5-speed one is in the tranny.

Crazyone, you musta been too drunk to read. That wasn't the challenge, because it's off topic, and because I couldn't win it. Your car is awesome beyond words, except that ugly wraparound airdam with the ugly strakes. But it's not for me. If I won a lottery, I'd do an R34. But I've never had a chan...

Re: Getting more camber on front 84-87

You mean move the mounting point for the lower a arms up? Wouldnt that just screw with the geometry? Right now the distance between both a arms at the frame is the same as the distance between the upper and lower ball joints. Would having the upper a-arms swapped (left side on right, right side on l...

Re: Getting more camber on front 84-87

Well, I just replaced the front springs. I now have stock length springs on the front, 1 degree to in allignment, and still have positive camber. The ball joints are a few years old and not worn, 2 year old poly bushings, crossmember does not appear to be dinged. I have the upper moog ball joints wi...
