Re: Cold Cranking amps

If you want to be baller, you could get a lithium battery. Porsche makes a nice lightweight battery as an option.

Voltphreaks also makes some nice options.

Or if you are adventurous, you could make your own lithium battery like this guy did.

Re: Build Thread: RX8

Enjoyed reading about the upgrades. I noticed your writing style is a lot like mine. Is the car stored now? Not yet. We haven't had any salt or the roads yet and tonight will be the 1st night below freezing. Hopefully I can drive it till Thanksgiving. After that, it will probably be put up for the ...

Re: Build Thread: RX8

Not much of an update but I stopped by Oakos Automotive last week and bought some RPF1 center caps and some Muteki spline lug nuts. I think they make a bit of an improvement in the look of the wheels. I have some other parts on order from Corksport as they had an 11% off sale on 11/11. That update s...

Re: Build Thread: RX8

Lol... LS1 coils > *.* Good to hear you found the PS problem. LS1 coils go on everything nowadays! As for the PS problem, I'm glad RX8Club has as much data on it as it does. Pretty much everything has been covered at one point in time and there is a bunch of detailed DIY's. If my PS problem comes b...

Re: Build Thread: RX8

So I installed my BHR ignition system a couple of days ago. Install is pretty easy and the instructions that came with it very easy to follow. I also changed out my sparkplugs. Even with my discount, the plugs still cost me $17 a piece! Fitment is tight on the harness-side and you have to make sure ...

Re: Build Thread: RX8

Very nice, great stance. Sure changes the look of the car from stock. Are you going to winter drive this car as well? Thanks! Yes, the stance of this car is so much better now. I can't get over how much grip this car has. I can't wait to get it on a track. No, it won't be driven in the winter aside...

Re: Build Thread: RX8

Lowering is now all complete! Now that I'm all done, I have to say that doing shocks and springs on this car is one of the easiest suspension jobs I have done. Everything is easy to get to and besides some spring compressors, all you need is basic hand tools. I feel I could do a full suspension job ...

Re: Looking for my next car, advice?

Exactly what are you looking for in your next car? Between the cars you have and the choices you mention, I'm not exactly sure what you are looking for. From a new BMW, to a TDI, to a sportbike, to a modded Fiero, you are all over the place! You refer to your DD as a POS, so I would suggest looking ...

Is there a locator service I can ask them to use?

I'll ask my friend to see if she can find out anything.

Re: Build Thread: RX8

So it's been a bit since I posted an update so I thought I would show where I am in my suspension install (Bilstein shocks and H&R springs). I started out doing the rear suspension as I though it would be a bit easier. I ended up having a few issues along the way. First off, the swaybar endlinks...

Re: Alky crew, post here.......

The one thing that I have embraced fully about the state of Michigan since I moved here 7 years ago is their beer. MI is filled with great breweries. Bell's, Arcadia, Shorts, Founders, and Darkhorse are all larger breweries and I can find their beer in pretty much any store. Then within a 3-mile dri...

Re: S62 E30 AWD (Formerly: Fantastic V8 swap candidate)

She got back to me and told me she doesn't really have time to hunt down parts, but she said to contact Riedel Auto Recycling http://www.riedel-autorecycling.de/ to see if they have one. She also said they are pretty good at hunting stuff down. If they have one, she said it would be ok to have it sh...

She in or married to the Air Force?

Actually she's a scientist who deals with metal lubrication for Henkel. She's also a regular blogger on autoholics.com I know her from my local VW group.

I have a car-buff friend living in Dusseldorf at the moment, if you want I can send her a message to see if she can get what you need. Send me a PM with specifics and I'll forward it along.

Have some fun! The car looks great! I hope you get some video.

I was hoping to have my car together for the last SCCA autox of the season this saturday, but I ended up getting my driveway replaced so my RX8 is stuck in the garage till next week. Oh well. I'll have to wait till next year...

Re: Build Thread: RX8

So I am getting a new driveway poured right now, so my RX8 is currently imprisoned in my garage for the next 7-10 days. I plan on getting a fair amount of work done in this time and this is what I have done so far. First off, I received a K&N panel air filter. I installed that and then did a cou...

Re: Build Thread: RX8

Have people actually said redline makes the car feel smoother? Sounds like placebo effect to me... Eh, probably. But I'm not sure if either fluid has been changed as it was pretty dark, plus I didn't notice any tool-marks on any of the bolts prior to the ones I made. So if it was 76k miles old, I m...

I only get 2 Fridays off out of every 7 weeks. You would think I would take advantage of that and go out and have some fun. No, I decided to do this: http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m221/akursedx/RX8/2011-10-07_18-43-58_797.jpg Both the transmission and rear diff now have new Red Line oil in them...

Also, I have been working on tracking down a repetitive chirping that I've been having. I originally thought it was a dry idler pulley, but it's coming from the clutch-area. When the car is warm and in neutral with my foot off the clutch, it has a constant but not too loud chirp. As soon as I step o...

Re: Build Thread: RX8

So I ordered my wheels/tires, springs, and shocks from the tire rack yesterday at 3:30pm. I got all of this by 12:30 today: http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m221/akursedx/RX8/2011-10-05_13-32-25_597.jpg All I had time to do today was to install the wheel/tire setup. Getting the lugs off were near ...
