Mix up some lye and water and it will take the aluminum right off of the crank journal. I use a wood handle q-tip to apply. Might save it if you caught it soon enough. Only way to know for sure would be to run it without the covers or cut the top from one and replace with something clear.

With the move and everything else going on, I haven't been able to open the car back up and inspect. It still runs and seems quiet under the covers though, so fingers-crossed and all that.

How many pulls do you get before the packs thaw?
