Re: LZ9 and LZ4 Fiero Swap Parts
I'm fairly certain the LS4 uses a different style alternator than most other LS engines, but I could be wrong. Either way, I have one here, and used it to validate the model shown in one of the above pictures. I cut prototypes yesterday morning when I got off work, the parts fitup looked good initia...

LZ9 and LZ4 Fiero Swap Parts
I'm slowly working towards a few LZx swap parts that should make putting one in a Fiero a bit easier. As most of you know, I have made a prototype engine mount bracket that bolts to the stock Fiero engine mount. https://i.imgur.com/gA5eF84.png https://i.imgur.com/0alG15t.jpg I'm also working on a lo...

Re: Lz9 + 4 spd manual trans in 86 GT swap
I have a prototype welded and ready to ship, let me know where it needs to go and I'll get it in the mail. https://i.imgur.com/0alG15t.jpg This looks like an excellent solution to the 3x00 swap problem. Most people just modify one of the stock 2.8 brackets, however, I did test fit parts on a LX9 oil...

Re: The Hunt!/Eric's new dump.
I think my plan is going to be to support the roof with temporary structures, take down the walls, bust the perimeter of the slab, dig and pack a reasonable footer, then lay block on top to support the walls, and the roof. unless I can come up with a reasonable way to to get some concrete under the...

Re: The Hunt!/Eric's new dump.
From an erosion standpoint, shouldn't grass help keep that from happening? Do you really need the square footage of the patio area? What about just demolishing it completely and making the house how it was with its old exterior walls? It may help, but I still don't like that the slab doesn't extend...

Re: Lz9 + 4 spd manual trans in 86 GT swap
Made another sample, this one was almost spot on, except for the vertical member going to the block was still too long, I forgot to correct it when I made the other changes yesterday. https://i.imgur.com/5N65H4y.jpg Can you tighten up the slots? Do you have enough clearance in the hole for the bolt...

Re: dura-pig? durpig?
I removed the fuel filter and charge pipe, core support, and put a hole in the floor (to later be covered by the high hump floor) So far, things are beginning to look very promising for the fit up. with the firewall in position relative to the front axle centerline, I have ample clearance to the fir...

Re: Lz9 + 4 spd manual trans in 86 GT swap
I cut a prototype today, found a simple error in my drawing, and a spot where I needed a little more clearance. I had made some revisions to reduce material, and ease installation, however, I needed to remove a little more near the oil pan rail to clear the oil pan flange. https://i.imgur.com/9g0v6D...

Re: The Hunt!/Eric's new dump.
the pine trees, they're leaning enough, and have enough branches on the one side that they are leaning, that I don't think they will go the way I want even with a well cut notch. The patio, well, it's been washed out to some degree since I bought the place, but I also assume whoever did the patio di...

Re: organization techniques
I'm making an attempt to organize my life better, so that hopefully I can accomplish more things, faster, and I was hoping that some of you would share the things that you do. Life or car projects? Organizing your life better may mean getting rid of car projects. For a project in general, I try to ...

Re: Lz9 + 4 spd manual trans in 86 GT swap
Hi, Are you able to share drawings so we can print them out and do some mock-ups? Also, how are you planning to have these manufactured? Waterjet, steel sheets and welding? Something else? Happy to have a chat offline if it's easier. Thanks. There have been several small revisions, I'm almost ready...

Re: The Hunt!/Eric's new dump.
I've been pretty busy lately, I've been trying to make some stuff happen with the house, and I think I'm starting to make actual progress.. I decided I wanted to install an electric, tankless hot water heater, mainly because they take up significantly less space. when hot water isn't needed, they us...

I like that idea for bigger projects, once my shop is a little more in order, I may try and implement that idea.

That looks great! I take it the ATS rotors worked out, or at least so far they do?

Re: Lz9 + 4 spd manual trans in 86 GT swap
I misread Eric's post as "earlier LZ9 blocks" rather than "earlier v6/60 blocks". Yes, 4mm is well within the limits of the factory brackets to accept a slotted bolt hole. Are you deleting VVT in order to install a distributor and run it on the Fiero ECM? I edited my previous po...

Re: Lz9 + 4 spd manual trans in 86 GT swap
but why delete the VVt? it's not like DOD where it's completely unreliable (which might be an overstatement, but not the debate) megasquirt is able to control it, and it's not like you're putting in a hot cam or something, it's still just a plain old cam. The VVt does broaden the torque curve, and o...
