when I build my shop, I plan to pour a footer around the perimeter of the slab, it tends to help with erosion at the edges of the slab.pmbrunelle wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 6:49 pm Oh nice!
Is slab-on-grade a usual way of doing things in your area, versus digging a trench and having a footing a few feet down?

Re: The Hunt!
Looks like a decent place. what are the dimensions of the garage? I imagine the concrete block walls and steel roof will make for easy maintenance. I don't have the exact dimensions handy, but I think it's about 36x25 or so. it's big enough for now, but I do plan to build something much bigger even...

the trucks have the connector inside, and not weather sealed. I need to see about finding a replacement connector too. I don't want to replace the whole pigtail

Looks ready for a flywheel! That's an interesting RMS design, almost makes me wonder why gm didn't use it elsewhere that I am aware of.
I'm curious how you're going to carve 2 pounds off the water manifold, that's a significant amount of aluminum!

Here they wanted to ban the hellaflush/lowered/stance/tire stretch cars. The province didn't bother banning stanced cars, instead they regulated ride height and banned threaded adjustable suspensions (dunno if any cars come from the factory that way). My Fiero will end up illegal with threaded spri...

Nice work on the spring compressor, simple, and effective. If everything goes according to plan, in a few weeks I'll be able to start working on mine again somewhat regularly. I may even pick up an LZ9 to start working on mounts for. When I get around to it, I would like to make a bolt in LZ9 kit, s...

Found out why my high blower speed stopped working. I reseated the connector and it started working again... no problem, right? https://i.imgur.com/cElfwjz.jpg?1 Going to snag a connector body and some pins to replace this. I'm pretty sure I correctly seated the connector when I replaced the blower...

must be a thing with states that initials end in "A" WA also has front plates, I never got asked about them though, as I maintained FL registration. being active duty did occasionally have perks. I'm leaning toward "It's just totalitarian jerks" myself. lol, fair. you see this? ...

For sure. I'm going to check back after it closes to see if my offer was even close... Anyone who wins a bid to buy a house nowadays may end up with regrets once they realize they overpaid. "Losing" the bidding war in a sense may be saving yourself from trouble. yeah, the place needed a t...

Re: WK Grand Cherokee Diesel
Some busy-body VA state pooper gave me a ticket for expired inspection. I was going to get it inspected anyway once I was satisfied that it's reliable enough, but now I have to move that timetable up. Thanks @$$hole. Got a Mopar front plate bracket on order because the VA General Assembly is full o...

Re: The Hunt!
It depends on the property, the VA won't lend on just any property, and they almost certainly wouldn't have on this one.
You're 100% right though, cash has other advantages, it's typically the fastest way to close, and doesn't have any inspection requirements.

Well, week one is in the books! Bridgestone seems much more laid back than the Navy was, so far, I enjoy it. Now the hunt shifts to finding a proper piece of land that I can build a proper workshop on. Tomorrow, I'm going to look at a place on some nice acreage, the I can hopefully snap up for a so...

I build all sorts of custom robots and 5+ axis machines as well as additive manufacturing tech. I could print sand molds and cast aluminum rockers or cam blanks and grind them. It just more of a project than I planned. @ericjon262 What ratio are the comp "Magnum" roller rockers? If they w...

Unless you are almost getting it for free I would save my time and money and pass on it I'd be getting it cheap enough, when I go to pick up the Pig next month, I'm going to drop in and take a careful look at it and make sure that it's solid in all the important spots, and make up my mind 100% from...

l. 300 WHP from a cam/springs LZ9? Sounds like fun! :-D 75mm tb, cam swap, longtubes is all you need to to get 300 crank hp. 300 whp would take a bit more work obviously. Id say my 3900 without turbo would make around 250 whp. I just have a 75mm tb and cam and through a manual. Josh riedl did 238 w...
