Re: Lz9 + 4 spd manual trans in 86 GT swap
Had the same thought which is why we are trying to source an 88 bracket. There is no upper bolt hole. I must have gotten my wires crossed about which bolt hole is there and which is moved on the GenIV blocks then. What else is the bracket attached to? One bolt ain't gonna work. I would like that mo...

Re: progress on the banshee...
I like the way you think. Realistically, I don't really have an option to weld them any way but how you recommend, as I don't have the capability to manufacture new pins, and the pins had to be cut to disassemble. I may try and ask about new hardware from Johnson one more time, but I suspect the ans...

Thanks, i'm kinda partial to bumper pad notchies as well, it seems like most people hate them... lol! nobody makes a performance lifter for a roller cam 60V6, not that this is any kind of surprise. because my current engine is shedding metal into the oil from somewhere, my valvetrain is very noisy, ...

Re: Brake system hydraulics.
I think I may try and build and install one of Aaron88's adjusters in the stock combo valve, I put together a bracket to hold a line lock using the master cylinder bolts, and bent lines to a stock combination valve, so ditching it now doesn't make a ton of sense. https://i.imgur.com/5a9qWHQ.png http...

I ended up getting about $4500 put in my pocket at the end of the day, it was a huge fiasco dealing with the insurance company, but I got more for the car than I probably ever could have sold it for. Earlier today, I pulled the engine and trans, with a tractor and a sawzall.... https://i.img...

Re: the pig rig?
I cleaned the rest of the pistons for the L31, Hopefully over the next week, I can spend a little time in the garage, clean up the block, and then assemble the short block. In other, less important news, I cut down a set of stock 8 lug hubs for a 8.5" ten bolt front axle, similar to how the dan...

Re: dura-pig? durpig?
So, we left off with a frame that had been cut in half, and then welded back together, which still needed front spring hangers made, and the axle moved forward. I cleaned up the garage, and one of the things I intended on doing, was making some swift headway on getting the durapig moving along again...

I gave it some thought, and figured it was time to break apart the suburban threads. This thread is for the Duramax GMT800 Frame swap progect started when I bought a 1986 C20 Suburban here: https://www.realfierotech.com/viewtopic.php?p=161133#p161133 here is most of the pertinent info from that thre...

that kinda depends. there are off the shelf angle shims for setting pinion angle, as long as it's within a reasonable amount of misalignment.

Might not be a bad idea, or I should take notes on which cleaning solutions are effective, and what they are effective on, and maybe find one that works great for both.

Brake system hydraulics.
Specifically, the combination valve and master cylinder. My understanding is that the combination valve is supposed to shift to isolate the front or rear brakes in the event of a blown hose, however, I thought this was also the whole idea behind modern master cylinders having tandem pistons, each pi...

Re: Multi link rear suspension tow rig.
Then use two front frame halves for four wheel independent suspension AND Quadrasteer   because that would be totally easy and quick... I had been giving this a ton of thought, and I think I'll most likely end up moving the spring hangers, the solution is the simplest, and requires the ...

here are some shots of two 60v6 heads, both had about the same amount of grime before going in the sink. https://i.imgur.com/GkrXdKN.jpg I'm not sure if it's the solution, or the ultra sonic action, but it eats carbon up. https://i.imgur.com/Am4aIHT.jpg https://i.imgur.com/u6dO78n.jpg https://i.imgu...

I don't know the particulars of the controller until/unless I take it apart, but the stampings look all the same, and the control layout is either identical or some have a button or two added that other don't have, but are otherwise the same. Does the timer function derive from populating the same ...

Re: Multi link rear suspension tow rig.
If you're just looking for a softer ride, install 1/2 ton leaf springs. If you still need to carry load, install helper air bags. It's definitely on the list of considerations, a downside to multi link is that I don't think I would be able to convert to quad steer with it, that said, quad steer is ...

Can you fit a cylinder head in one of those? A 60v6 head does fit. Can you fit a cylinder head in one of those? Tank dimensions are 19.7x11.8x7.9 (500x300x200) All the "consumer grade" 30L units come out of the same factory in China... the only differences I've seen across Amazon and eBay...
