Re: My NEW turbo setup
I can't quite tell, was that a Chevy Malibu, or Cruze? The one walking away on you.

Re: rapid prototyping/3d printing
My sister and her husband have one, recently bought it. Paid $1,000, but that's all I know. They printed (Can it even be called that?) a chess set and the pieces turned out pretty incredible, and my sister said they feel like a hard plastic so no durability issues that she could see. I know it's not...

Re: Video: Take a lap around PMP in a traction-challenged BM
Even with the boost leak I've been driving it for the past several days. I take a lot of care limiting my throttle thereby limiting turbo RPM, but aside from the lack of boost it's run fine. As for oil temps, umm, no. I didn't have the chance to limp mode it from oil temps, but it was well on its wa...

Re: 2.8 turbo dyno
I like having the different levels. I leave it on in foul weather, and it cuts in before I can even tell the wheels were spinning. Or I can turn TC off, but leave DTC on, and it lets the wheels spin if I'm going more or less straight, but cuts power if the car gets sideways. Or I can turn it all off...

Video: Take a lap around PMP in a traction-challenged BMW
It was a fun day overall, but a complete waste of $100. I got about 4 laps in before blowing off a charge pipe that ended my day. It was fun though, would've liked for the rain not be fall down on the track, but I don't complain about rain! As usual the fastest cars there had the slowest drivers. ht...

Re: I don't have that Series8217 money but...
The darned impressive engines are the S54, S65 and S85... The S54 tops out around 330 to the wheels on the stock shortblock and the S65 can push 420 to the wheels with basic bolt ons and a tune. I haven't heard specific numbers on the S85, but since the S65 is 80% of it, I'd guess they're decent. S...

Re: Driver's side window stopped working
I really don't want to fuck with it, but considering it's still taken apart, it'd be stupid of me not to take apart and clean the door lock mechanisms, as they're sticking. Should do the passenger side also, but I'm not confident that'll happen.

Re: Driver's side window stopped working
Well the DIY's helped, but it was still hell. It's back together now, working smoothly. I never knew Fiero Windows could move so as they do with a new motor and clean tracks. Still need to put the door panel back on, and put the inverter for the gauges in. But it's getting there. Look around at 88GT...

Re: Driver's side window stopped working
I'm totally done with this car sadly. Once I start working on it I'm good to go, it's the getting started that is unlikely. Also ordered a new power inverter, seems the Speedhut gauge overlays stopped working and the internet says the inverter is the usual failure point. I looked through a few DIY's...

Re: Driver's side window stopped working
Tested voltage at the motor with the door open and closed, and got 12v with switch activated both times, and that seal through the door opening looked good. Ordered the new rockauto motor, $23 shipped.

Re: Driver's side window stopped working
Thanks for the info Emc. Will, I've seen that thread before, and if I wasn't selling the car I'd absolutely do that. But a new motor from rockauto is like $18. I checked the switches today, and the driver's side switch still controls the passenger window fine, so it's got to be either wiring or the ...

Driver's side window stopped working
I'm working on selling my 88GT, but it's got a few issues that need to be resolved first. The driver's side power window worked for a while, then began sporadically working. Sometimes it'd work normal, other times not at all. Recently, it stopped working altogether. Now I'm assuming it's the motor/r...

Re: electric water pumps?
It'd be a good option, but I doubt you'd get it controlled to do everything it does factory, as that is integral to the ECU. It is a remote mount, as in it'd be easy to adapt to any engine, just hook up a couple hoses and find a way to strap it down. It uses a rather large 2-plug connection, probabl...

Re: electric water pumps?
Some cool things about the tech: Coolant temperature is varied by up to 60*F depending on driving conditions. For example at highway cruising the car usually sits at 240* in the name of efficiency. After engine shut down the EWP continues running, including pushing water through the turbo, for sever...

Re: electric water pumps?
I guess that came out wrong... The pump still flows when cold, just slowly. The car warms up quicker than my other cars, despite the OE air/oil cooler mounted up front. However it does not get up to temp crazy fast, the aluminum LSX still holds that record for me. I cannot believe how fast a 2002 LS...

Re: electric water pumps?
My 3 series runs an OEM electric water pump, without a mechanical pump at all. The benefits are lengthy, higher flow, full flow regardless of RPM, variable water temps, cool down after shutoff, and lower parasitic draw. The downsides are cost and reliability. The BMW water pumps fail regularly. Howe...

Re: My NEW turbo setup
I don't test mine since I'm not tuned to the edge. They say the minimum is e70 on the pump, I assume they go down close to that being winter in Colorado. I adjust my mixture in my head to try and keep it close to e45-e50 or so, but I don't try too incredibly hard since I've got a lot of flex. I'd lo...

Nope, friend's barn I visit on occasion, and that's where we did the work.
Not that it's any better, but the dirty pants pic was taken inside his 335i, which isn't very nice. As soon as he's out of med school he's either going to rebuild the car, or buy another.
Thanks!
