Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

Standby for a few - I'm going to hook back up to my bench Shelby tuned PCM and get the hex addresses for the KR and misfire PIDs.

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

Interesting, my scanning session ran for more than an hour and I had to cancel out of it or I don't think it would have ever finished. Are you sure you selected the FULL PID SCAN option checkbox when you did this? (the one that has a notation that says it could take a VERY LONG TIME to do?) You did ...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

Run a full data PID scan thru TorqueScan by doing the following... 1) While connected to the PCM with the key on, open TorquePro 2) Click on the menu button on your android phone to bring up the popup menu within TorquePro 3) Click on SETTINGS 4) Select PLUGINS 5) Check the box next to "ALLOW P...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

Does TorquePro w/ TorqueScan give the 99-00 LS1 guys KR and per cylinder misfire data? Just wondering if the Shelby OS runs the same scan data output PID addresses as the LS1 OS (because I don't know).

Good luck finding it for OBD2 stuff. There seems to be much reluctance in the OBD2 community for people to share disassemblies.

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

On the OBDI hardware, people connect the 0-5V output of the wideband controller to the EGT pintle position feedback wire in order to have a value which can be translated to measured AFR present in the datalogs. There are even patches for some code masks which change the interpretation formula withi...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

If this is an inside a building dyno cell, I recommend having them tune the WOT AFR to 12.5 - 12.8:1. I know the "magic" AFR for N/A engines is 13.0:1. But with your car sitting on a stationary dyno inside a room, it isn't getting the same volume of clean air it will see driving down the r...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

The interior E/PCM's do not have weather-tight connectors, while the under-hood PCM's do. Mounting the interior ones with the connectors down would be necessary, while the under-hood ones could be mounted flat with no long-term effects. 1996-newer Grand Ams and like bodied vehicles use the exact sa...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

I didn't mean to sound snappy with that statement... just that I am aware. No worries, and I wasn't trying to come off as though you didn't know any better because I know you do. I had always assumed that's why GM mounted the stock V6 computer with the connectors down They usually don't. The only c...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

*Most FWD cars and minivans. But I wouldn't mount it there. If it isn't too much of an issue, I would mount it inside the passenger cabin. This location just has less risk of the PCM being exposed to moisture. And I had assumed you knew the potential problems corrosion could cause. I did not mean to...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

In most cars, GM mounts the PCM in the airbox. It sees some limited air flow from the normal engine breathing process, but it's not normally in direct air flow. But in most trucks, it isn't mounted in the airbox at all and just hangs out there where hot radiator air can blow on it. I just had to shi...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

I didn't think to measure the resistance before I installed it... I should have. The car runs liked a raped ape with the new sensor... can't wait to get back to the dyno for a touch up once I finish the intake tube. You can measure it installed in the block, no problem. PCM mounting: Van/S10 is nic...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

Isn't the knock sensor just a piezo-electric microphone? In that case, you wouldn't get a consistent resistance across multiple sensors, because that could be affected by random variables like the exact thickness (to the micron) of the piezo element, exactly how tight the shell was crimped onto it,...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

After I'd done this, my dad mentions that he remembered has a couple of OBDII LT1 knock sensors around, and that they use 1/4" pipe... of course he hasn't seen them in years, so good luck finding them. If I ever need to replace the sensor, I'll try one of those. I would NOT. As we discussed vi...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

Check out p/n: RU-3130 for the universal cone filter. The PCM will mount behind the stock Fiero center console if you attach it to the sheet metal plate that the factory Fiero ECM tray attached to. I recommend you attach it to this plate with some commercial grade VELCRO so you can isolate the case ...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

The 09354896 PCM was used in 1999-2000 model years. The 12200411 PCM didn't come out until 2001 model year.

1998 LS1 PCMs were a different service number: 16238212 and I think they looked just like the older OBD2 architecture 96-97 PCMs.

The 99 Shelby 4.0 Aurora OS you are currently using appears to be very similar if not identical in many ways to a 99 LS1 OS.

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

The way you describe the 3800 PCM's working is how I thought all MAF-based systems worked, but I see that's not correct. It's interesting that it's such a complicated interplay. I assume that's because of potential reversion at lower speeds and loads? Potential reversion might have been why they di...
