Re: F40 Differential Spline Data - CV Spud options

You thinking to cut the tripod and weld on a flange to the stub? I don't see why that couldn't work. Even some of the OE Audi/VW tripods have a welded on flange. Now that I think about it I talked to Chris West about 930 axles a few weeks ago and he said he has done exactly that for an F40 before. ...

Re: F40 Differential Spline Data - CV Spud options

Since I only currently have the Saab 9-5 Intermediate Shaft, I ordered a set of GSP axles (same for length for passenger and driver) from Rock Auto at $55 a piece. These are new axles, so I will assume the inner shafts will be in now way compatible with stock GM parts, but Ill have some starting poi...

Re: F40 Differential Spline Data - CV Spud options

The seal surface on that stub appears to be much larger diameter than the f40's seals, but the splined end looks promising.

Re: F40 Differential Spline Data - CV Spud options

We have used the GKN CV 15 in some applications at my work, and a we have a driveshaft using the the GKN 18 joint at both ends, They hold power very well. I like to refer to them as their colloquial usage terminology as the auto aftermarket does as well, and offer "upgraded" interchangeabl...

F40 Differential Spline Data - CV Spud options

I have been looking into this more. What I know so far: F35 Application such as a HHR/Cobalt Axles have the same spline engagement for this app in a Fiero. These cars run jackshafts. Supercharged cars have matching outboard splines to the Fiero, Probably a GM Econo Box Carry over (J-Body ETC) The G6...

Re: '88 wheel bearing and hub upgrades

Bravo. This is exactly what I wanted to do with the rebuildable Jeep Bearings, which should take S10 outer CVs, that should fit Fiero Axle shafts. But I know 934 Stubs are available for $500 a pair from Dutchman for the 33 spline C7 Vette, I have not determined if the F40/LS4 has the clearance on th...

Thank You, that confirms other data I have seen. I think there can be something of similar stiffness made with a loss of mass here.

I remembered, I own a G-Tech RR. I pulled a data log from my old LS1 GTO during a track day: I multiplied velocity by forward g's and again by 3800lb to get approx. instantaneous power (negating incline and aero drag) Screenshot 2023-09-07 171141.jpg Physics 100 math: Force [lb]=mass[slug]*accel [ft...

Re: 1984 SD4 Resurrection

I recently acquired, from eBay, a dual 48mm DCOE flange for building my '801 ITB manifold. I will have to open up the runner ports to 50mm to match my larger throttle bodies. I want to have an aluminum intake for the final build, but I am thinking I can dyno test with a 3d printed one to confirm it ...

Re: LS4 build

Fiero guru built his own new lower cradle and if I recall, there was some weight saving but not as much as I think should have been considering the amount of time it took to build. So right now it is 21.8 lbs lighter, but will continue to get heavier. If I can end up with the cradle 15 lbs lighter,...

Re: LS4 build

What I'm after is reduced weight, and altered geometry to correct for a lowered car, like raising the inner pivots. If I recall, the Factory 88 Cradle weighs near 60lbs bare. Ah ok. Yeah the stock cradle is heafty, but I always thought this a plus given what it does. I've bottomed my cradle out a l...

IMG_8168.jpg This is the photo if found from FieroGuru with the F40, I think, he kept the factory engine crankshaft centerline, therefor the F40 moves the axle centerline forward in the vehicle. Re: LS4 build

It appears there is only enough room for around 1" rise on the pivots, I would also ditch to square socket like shape of the mounting point and use just two tabs, to maximize vertical clearance.
