Re: The Hunt!/Eric's new dump.

I don’t really like the corner counterspace next to the fridge; looks like it is obstructed and hard to use. Can you put the pantry in that corner? Maybe not possible with the vent area… I hadn't really considered it that way, but you're very right, I hadn't considered that the fridge was full heig...

Re: The Hunt!/Eric's new dump.

Silly me for thinking R was refrigerator it's alphabetical, "Range" comes before "refrigerator" I made some revisions, it works out to about 13x11 for the "kitchen" although the kitchen is open to the rest of the space, which is about 13'x36' https://i.imgur.com/WFb15R...

Re: The Hunt!/Eric's new dump.

Some thoughts: Plenum concept would ensure equal pressure to each duct, but each duct has a different length, number of turns, etc, so it doesn't mean that the resulting flow would be the same. And depending on the rooms, they may not all need the same cfms, so I wouldn't get too worked up over thi...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.

First, Japan is rad, I would love to go check it out again, especially as a civilian.

Second, might want to build the VSS, and back up light harness with a connector so it can be be divorced from the main harness, and adapted to other transmissions.

Re: The Hunt!/Eric's new dump.

so, I've made a significant change to what I was going to do with the house, I decided not rebuild the "patio" space, as it would just cost too much money to properly enclose. probably won't be a ton of pictures, as most of the work is kinda hard to capture in a picture right now, when it'...

Re: LZ9 and LZ4 Fiero Swap Parts

I'll have to look into the element analysis, I'm not sure how well it would work with the way I design my parts, but that's a great reason to change the way I design parts. I'm on design 3 of the alternator mount, I'm onto a design that I believe to be viable, but I would like to integrate a dog bon...

Re: project silver - 1987 fiero coupe street car

Fwiw, I did a tape measure alignment on my car. I set camber with an angle finder, then measured to the wheel faces for toe. Tire wear has been acceptable, and the car drove great.

Re: LZ9 and LZ4 Fiero Swap Parts

I've been working towards a new design alternator mount, which should allow for the use of intermediate shafts, and hopefully, automatic transmissions. My old design used the bosses on the side of the block that both of those bolted to, this one, while possibly looking simpler, is a bit more complic...

Re: project silver - 1987 fiero coupe street car

welcome to the board! always nice to see a new name around.

what are you looking at for engine choices? as I understand it, CARB legal swaps can be quite difficult.

Re: CAD Stuff

still learning to refine the scans to something slightly more useful, it looks like mixed modeling may be an option, but I need to get my scan process cleaned up first.

Re: CAD Stuff

for now, the main objective was to use it as an aid, so that I can attempt to digitally prototype parts faster. I think as I get the scanner setup better, the results of the scan will be improved. here is a scan of an LZx engine block corner, which could be helpful for determining interference point...

That's awesome! I didn't realize you were adding ABS, it's neat that the BMW unit can work in standalone. Anymore details on that?

Re: LZ9 and LZ4 Fiero Swap Parts

I found this noteworthy while working on a "gen 2" alternator bracket, the bolt pattern on the end of the head is the same on an LZ as it it on the earlier engines, while this isn't massively significant, it is potentially useful depending on how a mount is developed. https://i.imgur.com/l...

have you had a chance to test fit the engine to the cradle with that mount?

Re: CAD Stuff

I've been working on a bunch of projects, this model, is a LZ9 belt tensioner, with the ribbed pulley swapped for a smooth pulley. https://i.imgur.com/17i3CWp.png I also picked up a 3d Scanner, it's not exactly reverse engineering grade, but hopefully I can use it to model parts of the LZx engine in...

Re: LZ9 and LZ4 Fiero Swap Parts

Some shots below. Couple thoughts: 1. Nice welds. 2. Real clean cuts. 3. Paint looks pretty nice not even considering how fast you made it. 4. We were thinking it might be helpful to incorporate one more bolt hole from below. 5. A gusset would be reassuring. 6. A thicker gauge would be nice Would b...
