I had a 307 Chevy of all things that had a no bullshit 010 020 clearly cast under the timing cover... It was an OMC 245HP marine motor, though.

Re: Reconsidering mounting
I'm not sure I'd want to solid mount anything. I thought some flex softens the peak force the driveline experiences. Like hitting something made of cast aluminum with a 2 lb rubber hammer vs a 2 lb steel hammer.

Re: starting my 5.3 with pics
Looks good so far, reminds me of my engine swapping days! I probably don't need to tell you this, but get that drivetrain down as low as you can without problems (which maybe it already is)... Oilpan flush with the bottom of the cradle if you can - gives you lots of clearance up top, and lowers your...

Holy shit, that's wicked. Does that make X the officially fastest street driven Fiero known? What parts did GM racing use in the 65HD for the FWD drag cars to handle the abuse?

Re: Clutch discussion
got my spec clutch in today. Stage 5 cintored iron, unsprung. also going to try an aluminum flywheel. I think I am going to start a new build thread showing a 3500 install. I've always wondered how much you can abuse a steel crank 3500 with boost? 500 HP? Certainly with pistons and rods... Do it!

Wonder if that's real...
What surprises me is that it looks like a big huge cardboard cored transformer... I'd have an easier time believing it if it was wound on a steel core.

Re: 3.4L DOHC Short Runner Intake: Video
The sound is just incredible... Even if it wasn't worth 5 HP, it makes the car so much more fun to drive now. That said, the difference up top is night and day. Where the stock setup used to discourage venturing north of 6000 RPM, the new system pulls happily to redline - way more torque near redlin...

Re: Help me with my itb intake!!
Just like Will said, try to get your runners to ~14" (from back of the valve to end of runner) if you can. That's almost exactly how long my runners are on my intake and you can really hear and see the effect (and feel it) when they come in. I think more than a few short runner intakes have bee...

Re: 3.4L DOHC Short Runner Intake: Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkCUodmhn7E I didn't get to post the video before the forum crashed, so here it is. Shaun - I think the cold air rice pipe from the TB to the filter is making the throaty growl from 3K up that gets louder. It could possibly be the TB ram pipe or the plenum adding to in...

3.4L DOHC Short Runner Intake: Video
Dunno if I mentioned this before, but I just got done building a 3.4L DOHC short runner intake using some mathematical guidelines to determine runner length, plenum volume, and throttle body to plenum ram tube length and diameter (for velocity). I'm certainly not the first to cut the plenum off of t...

Quad Foursica?
What did the car sound like? Was it loud enough to tell if it was a 4, 6, or 8? They all make pretty distiinctive sounds. That'd narrow it down a bit.

If you can find turbo sunbird stuff, that would be pretty cool too.
