Re: AR Build

The main body of the core as well as the step that retains the tube is turned down except for some rough stock on either end. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/FastIndy/AR/CoreRough.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/FastIndy/AR/2011-12-28_16-41-11_478.jpg Nothing too exciting yet...

I finished milling the 6AL-4V end cap for my suppressor: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/FastIndy/AR/DSC_56841024x680.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/FastIndy/AR/DSC_57101024x680.jpg I also had the center hole of the core EDM'd, so machining out the core will be next. Should be trick...

Re: AR Build

The forms for the SBR and suppressor are sent! I've got a friend who doesn't have an AR storing the short barrel for me, so once I get the forms back I can just put everything together and start building the suppressor. Now the long, agonizing wait begins. T-minus 3 months and counting. :-o

Re: GM and Corvette in the 21st century?

Will, that's true about the $10/pound rule. The very interesting part is that the Northstar was being developed for a potential Corvette application. The LS program happened to get jump started, and made it into production *just* in time to be used in the 'Vette. The C5's were in fact packaged to be...

Re: Random Machining

Cheaper than free is pretty damn good. I guess I should have told the guy to run magnetos and pull the battery out every time he starts it. Silly me.

Re: Dare to be not-different

Been there, driven it, cars, trucks, stock, swapped, modded. It was neat. Didn't do it for me. Done. The sound of one running has never given me wood. Can't say the same for every other engine. Like you, I have a good idea of what I want. The difference is I've recognised that there isn't any square...

Re: Will's Nightmare

that motor is so fucking boring. The only thing cool about the Jag V12 is that it has 12 cylinders, and like you said, it's period and make correct. The LSx would romp it in every other category; mpg, power, torque, reliability, weight, ease of installation, and cost. That's why everyone and their ...

Re: Will's Nightmare

Just because he had the Jag engine is not valid grounds for trying to actually run it. Sell it for a lighter, cheaper, more powerful and better-MPG 5.3L LM4. Then backing it with an automatic transmission?!?!?!!?!?!? Plenty of cheap, strong manuals available. The S-10 2WD version of the NV3500 woul...

Re: Unconventional DataLogging Question

How will you be constructing the button? There are factors here that make a home-brew fatigue test less effective than simpler methods. First, the material (fatigue) properties of 6061 and 7075 are already well known (just an assumption of your primary material). If you're using steel construction y...

I looked up the Wolf Hook, but I'm not sure I understand what it does, or why it's better than any single point sling. I didn't quite understand it from what I saw. I can see how they get old, it's kind of getting old seeing the "same old same old" in every ar15.com thread. That's why I k...

Re: New Ride

The throttle is okay. Above 4000RPM throttle response is instantaneous. Below that it's a little like sending the engine commands by telegram. It leads to situations where if I want to accelerate briskly but stay in the same gear the PCM cooperates for 5-6 seconds THEN kicks down a gear and goes to ...

Transverse, it's the HF 3.6. Battery mounted in the floor in front of the 2nd row seating %) . Honestly I'm not sure how all the AWD bits are arranged, I haven't got it up on jackstands yet. That's very insightful. Same for Budd Dawyer? ... Oh wait.. he wasn't a shitty musician. Why exactly do you believe this belongs in Anything goes but not World? Cobain was an over rated pos.
