The wrong way vs. the right way
Let's say you need to make a mount. This happens all the time when you're doing any sort of custom fabrication. It could be a motor mount, an accessory mount, or anything else. THE WRONG WAY: Many times brackets start and finish like this: http://www.chaserace.com/forumphotos/mount2_640.jpg You get ...

Dead Torsen photos
I thought some of you may be interested in seeing how Torsens fail. This unit is out of a '95 Porsche 968. It only has 17k miles on it, but this car has been an autocross car its whole life so those have been pretty hard miles. I pulled transaxle because there was (a lot of) metal in the oil. Here's...

prior to 2000 subaru did have a FWD tranny available - mate that up to a WRX engine and it should fit on the fiero craddle The potential problem with that is that the motor hangs in front of the transaxle. When you line up the axles on the cradle the front of the engine may want to be in the passen...

Re: Can my life suck any more? Clutch problems
Well I lost the clutch. It feels very springy and loose, and doesn't start to engage until its almost to the floor. Before then just springy. The car would not shift when stopped, and it was very rough when driving, I had to match the rpms. Hey Aaron, are you sure that there's still fluid in the cl...

Re: 88 Headlihgt motor broken
Well for the first time my headlight motor went, it is the passenger side on my 88GT. Wow, what a coincidence. The passenger side headlight motor on my Formula just went out a week ago. I had repaired the driver's side motors on both cars, so your driver's side motor should last a while. Anyway, fo...

IF your fiero DOES NOT HAVE a HEAVY ASS END <as in a SBC auto swap or something> then use a front and rear sway bar of THE SAME DIAMETER!!! STOP SAYING A BIGGER FRONT BAR! THIS IS TOTALLY WRONG! Somebody else making a generic statement that a bigger front bar is necessary is no more incorrect than ...

I think your alignment settings are pretty good. 1 degree negative is not bad for what you have to work with in the front. Zero toe in the rear will definitely help. Sometimes too much so be careful while you're learning the new setup. Adjusting the rear shocks will control how the car handles on tu...

Honestly though, since you can weld Doug, I think you're better off starting from scratch. Thanks for the honest opinion. That's basically the information I was looking for. For someone that doesn't know how to weld and thinks they are smarter then me, this could be a good project. Since I can weld...
