Re: Looks like I get to replace the starter now! :(

Yeah it stalls right out if I pop the vacuum line.

Re: Looks like I get to replace the starter now! :(

It should be, last time I checked the engine ran even worse when I unplugged the vacuum line right there. I'll check again. What I haven't checked is the rubber connector between the vacuum line and the fuel pressure regulator which is at the other end from the MAP, because you know, it's under the ...

Looks like I get to replace the starter now! :(

The never ending saga of bull crap continues. Since my mom had the fuel pump replaced last year when I was in Afghanistan, it takes forever to start after the car has been sitting for some hours. Now, the starter only engages the flywheel for a second or two then it spins freely. I got a new one and...

Re: New door, or replace the panel, mirror, and window?

I got the new/used window installed. A shop did it for me free of charge. It's funny how the driver side window uses rivets, while I discovered that the passenger side window is held in by screws/nuts! Weird. The damn mirror I got doesn't have one of the two studs! I don't know how I missed that whe...

Re: What color paint?

On a side note, i got a little WD-40 sprayed on the back accidentally and when I spread it around it started looking nice, so I did it to the whole top of my car a few minutes ago and well, we'll see how it changes in a few days or weeks; before; http://lh6.ggpht.com/_pRdhQ34bSb0/TQCaSo2zVZI/AAAAAAA...

Re: Finally getting some work done on my engine!

Looks like I also took care of the EGR code the system was always throwing until I reversed the lines coming out of the EGR control solenoid. I think the little elbow piece might have been cracked.

Re: What color paint?

Medium Red Metallic Paint code WA-9077 It's like the 87 Metallic Blue, impossible to get a good picture showing just how metallic and brilliant it is in the sun. Beautiful color ... Yeah I sure like it! Thanks. I picked up a new door panel and need to either paint it, or wait until I have enough mo...

Re: Finally getting some work done on my engine!

FWIW, The cork gaskets in the felpro kit are not intended for use on a fiero. If you read the box it will say '2 x Valve Cover Gasket excl. Fiero' they are for all other cars that took the 2.8/3.1. They will leak like a sieve because they aren't anywhere near the right shape. LOL well I found that ...

Re: Finally getting some work done on my engine!

Okay it's running now. Had the wires plugged in to the distributor wrong. That and there was a little vacuum leak at the MAP sensor messing everything up real good.

Everything is back to normal, except for the smell of burning rubber coming from somewhere in the engine. I have no idea. :unknown:

Re: Finally getting some work done on my engine!

Did you take the dizzy out? Get it back in in the right orientation? Plug wires in the right order? Module & pickup coil connected inside? Dizzy external electrical connectors connected? Coil electrical connectors connected? Does your tach move while you crank? I didn't touch the dist. at all ex...

If you have all three, then check your timing.
Would I need to change my timing for new injectors? It was working fine before!

Re: Finally getting some work done on my engine!

UGH! And now my engine doesn't run.

I don't know what the deal is, but I drained the battery out trying to start it.

They're the 15lb injectors from the fiero store website.

Finally getting some work done on my engine!

Got new injectors, new vacuum lines, the flexible EGR tube, and rubber/neoprene gaskets for the rocker arm covers that have leaked since I used the cheezy cork gaskets the engine kit came with. Question is, should I use gasket goo/silicone on them? they seem like they might be thick enough to get aw...

What color paint?

Is my car Burgundy or is it Maroon? I always thought of it as Burgundy but now I don't know. I can't find the sticker with the paint code.

Re: New door, or replace the panel, mirror, and window?

Found a window, mirror housing, and door skin while I was on leave back in April. I thought I was going to smash the window just getting it out of the junkyard car! I broke the stops so now I need those. Door frame itself is just fine.

It was sitting for a while, but I don't know for how long. It couldn't have been for more than a year. I've been driving it for about a year and a half now, and the thing has vibrated since I got the car. It only started getting worse a few months ago. You might be able to repair that race by havin...

Re: Fuckin alternater!

I use a big-ass channel-lock pliers and hook one side on the end of the bracket and the other on the alternator and give a good squeeze. Seems to work fine, haven't had a squeaky belt in years.

Yikes!

I hope I can either get money to have this repaired or find a used door. I wonder how you're supposed to install/remove that damn mirror, what a pain!

New door, or replace the panel, mirror, and window?

Someone backed into my Fiero the other day, bending the mirror into the window, shattering the glass, then continuing into the plastic. The plastic split and the lock broke. Noticing how much of a pain it was just getting the mirror off, and I can't imagine putting a new window in will be easy, I th...
