Re: My 3.4 DOHC powered red and black camo '88 Fiero Track Car
Getting serious. My new prototype rear uprights are on the car, and a massive stack of wheels and tires has arrived. Unfortunately while installing the uprights I discovered my Konis have dumped most of their gas charge so I need to move forward my Bilstein project or get the Konis rebuilt (and migh...

Re: Brake system hydraulics.
I'll put my aaron88 brake bias adjuster up for sale after I have my new brake system installed this spring, if you can wait that long.

Re: '88 wheel bearing and hub upgrades
I personally would prefer the mechanical parking brake, are the electric units lighter? I can't imagine them being lighter than a cable, but I could be wrong. It's a mechanical drum-in-hat brake. The actuator I'm referring to only replaces your stock brake handle with a button you can mount anywher...

Re: F40 Differential Spline Data - CV Spud options
You thinking to cut the tripod and weld on a flange to the stub? I don't see why that couldn't work. Even some of the OE Audi/VW tripods have a welded on flange.
Now that I think about it I talked to Chris West about 930 axles a few weeks ago and he said he has done exactly that for an F40 before.

Re: '88 wheel bearing and hub upgrades
the rears look fantastic! are you considering production of them? I've been slowly working on a design of my own, but I am much more impressed with what you have come up with! does it have provisions for a parking brake? I'm considering putting them in production if there's enough interest. It uses...

Will these plug into the F40? Compatible with GKN size 18, based on the Camaro axle I have for reference.

Unfortunately it looks like the BMW stubs use a 30 degree angle instead of the 45 deg that GM likes to use.

Re: F40 Differential Spline Data - CV Spud options
The 934 joint is massive and heavy . It is used for applications like unlimited class Baja trucks. At the low angles you are running with a Fiero, I can't imagine you would need more than a high quality 108mm joint, or maybe a GKN size 18 if you're going to be drag racing on a treated surface with s...

Re: '88 wheel bearing and hub upgrades
Rear uprights coming along well. There are a few options for hubs including 5x120, 5x4.75, and 5x114.3. All accept large 33 spline outer CVs and there are a few different axle solutions that range from an outer CV swap to 930-style CV conversions, depending on your torque requirements. I'm using the...

Re: My 3.4 DOHC powered red and black camo '88 Fiero Track Car
Any possibility of using the Camaro hub and larger axle while retaining the stock Fiero bolt pattern? No, the Camaro bearing OD is 98mm. If your Fiero isn't a track car with big sticky tires, the rear bearing you want is the AC Delco 20-25K (J body application). It requires some machining to fit th...

Re: '88 wheel bearing and hub upgrades
Looks good. I can't imagine you'd need any more braking capacity than that. Thanks! Definitely not at this power level, but I'm working on plans for that... I might refinish the calipers, but I'm going to wait and see how they perform. None of the GM 4 pot Brembos have staggered piston si...

Got a lot done in the last few months: - rewrapped the roof - designed and installed bespoke aluminum front knuckles with C8 Corvette hubs (5x120), upgraded ball joints, double shear steering clevis and bump steer adjustable rod end outer link - rod end inner pivots on adjustable upper control arm (...

Re: '88 wheel bearing and hub upgrades
Not much room for a larger brake setup in front with a 17" wheel. This is the base C7 caliper so the rotor diameter is 12.6 inches. The next step up is Z51 which has a 13.4 inch rotor. The Z51 package might fit some 17s.

Re: '88 wheel bearing and hub upgrades
I designed brake hose brackets that work with the stock hose clamp and my the SPC upper ball joint plate in my adjustable upper control arms. The integrated nut is an M6 PEM insert. This finalizes the prototype assembly. I aligned the car and have taken it on a few test drives. No issues so far! Hop...

This is the battery fuse holder I have been using. I couldn't find a cover for it so I 3D printed one. I like that has replaceable fuses, unlike the Nissan one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/144794026436?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=4xahoaf6tgi&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=Ro...

5mm spade terminals may work, but there is definitely a latching housing that goes into those receptacles..ericjon262 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 4:58 pm Apparently they're 5mm spade connectors, the guy posting it on Facebook was looking for a source, I'll follow up if I find something different.

Damn dude. Seriously glad you are ok. I've had the "wake up to a turn" experience and it ended similarly. No more driving tired. Really glad you made it out of this one without serious injury to yourself or others.
