Re: Lucky's junkyard frankenstein

No, they're still iron heads. I'm in RI now, but as of yesterday I'm apparently moving back to Mass; I've got feelers out locally for a cradle, but anyone have a weight off hand for a shipping estimate?

I've got 3 hours before work now, gonna try to see what's up with the back up lights.

Re: Lucky's junkyard frankenstein

I haven't done any troubleshooting on the lack of backup lights yet; they just wouldn't work last night when I was leaving work, and don't work today either. The last 3 switches (all junkyard pulls) worked fine when I installed them, but after awhile stopped making a completed circuit (even out of t...

Lucky's POS

Keep making random posts; figured it's time to start a build thread. I know it's not anything impressive, I don't have nearly the technical know-how of some of you guys, I just want to start keeping all the stuff about the car in one place. http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo117/easirois/th_car1.j...

Definitely have the screws. Also a wing, decklid, and lock, and IIRC a key. I'm in Mass....

Re: Rear Quarter Panel

You don't have to drill out the plastic rivets, just punch in the centers with a nailset.

Re: The new 88GT

In the process of collecting pieces and reading up on this myself. I think modding the stock harness is the way to go; you'll need a plug for the cam sensor (or just leave the sensor in, but unconnected), knock sensor from a 7730 car, and I think I read somewhere that the 3X00 crank sensor won't jiv...

Re: Fail

I ended up having to crank down the nuts til I just barely felt the tension of the spring, it was almost more a zen experience than a technical one; the pushrods and rockers are so smooth it wasn't possible to actually get the rod to not spin, even with enough tension to have the valve almost fully ...

Re: Dropped the 84 tank today

Serious about wanting a good late tank? Yes. Not in a massive rush for one, however. If you can, next time you're at your buddy's, get measurements and a guestimate on weight for a shipping estimate to 02861.

Re: Fail

Mucho progress since this post. Inline spark check showed good on all cylinders, plugs on 2 & 5 were black, others were white. Compression test showed 150psi plus on all cylinders except 2 & 5- those were zero.... Took it all apart today and rechecked the valve lash adjustment, redid just 2 ...

Re: Dropped the 84 tank today

Ya. Same thing my dad said when he saw the price on the kit; then he researched a n.o.s. tank for his 84 KZ1100LTD and thought $73 was a bargain.

Back on the road

Got my car running well enough to drive, and pass inspection. Has a little low rpm hesitation and vibration, but I'm sure I'll figure it out. I'm off wednesday, pics of my pos after I clean it.

Re: Dropped the 84 tank today

POR15 has a tank cleaning/sealing system. You pour in a rust solvent, move it around inside by moving the tank, then rinse, dry, then pour in a liquid ceramic to seal the inside of the tank. My father used it on his motorcycle, still raves about it...
