Re: Working towards larger rear 88 hubs....

I'll have to do some figuring. I have the Lebaron 11.25 up front and the trans sport is an 11" rotor as mentioned above. I'm not sure of the caliper piston in these, so I'll have to measure that. I already have my axles and I worked on doing my machine work this evening. Hopefully I can get the...

Re: Working towards larger rear 88 hubs....

The lower ball joint and the tie rod end are bigger on the mini van. The lower BJ looks like it can use the same 3 mounting bolts as the fiero, however, and I'm thinkin you can just thread on the correct tie rod end.

Re: Working towards larger rear 88 hubs....

I know this doesn't apply to my original post, but I found out today that the 94 transport/lumina/silhouette vans used the large 33 spline outers, just like the caddy did. That would be another source for the large hubs.

Re: Crossover Flex Question...

Headers/primaries looked mint. Downpipe is rather rusty/pitted. The coating didn't exactly hold up that great to the DD status.

Re: Crossover Flex Question...

So I've read a lot about this happening, and worried about the fact that I never decided to take my flex apart. People are insisting that you cut the internal braid out of the flex section. Well sure enough, just like MANY other people have reported, my flex has also failed. If you search around the...

Re: Working towards larger rear 88 hubs....

The bearing catalog is online, that is where I got the specs from page 1. I wish I could remember what website I used for that. I'll have to do some searching around again. I think I may just go back to the early year cradle in my car. The 88 rear has been a nice upgrade to drive around on, but I th...

Re: Working towards larger rear 88 hubs....

The problem is that the axle breaks at the splines. If I could get a bigger axle in that area, i was hoping it wouldn't break as easy.

Time for some skinny front runners... Or just go back to a good drag radial.

Re: Working towards larger rear 88 hubs....

I'm not worried about the larger bolt circle, I would just really like to get a larger splined section, and therefore a larger hub onto the 88 upright, which doesn't seem possible.

Re: Working towards larger rear 88 hubs....

Opps, well then that was a bad idea. It was the tripod itself, not the actual axle shaft. I don't have a rear trunk any more so my only storage is the front. When I ran my 11.6, that was with both spare axles, a toolbox, and a small jack in the front compartment. After that long axle tripod broke, i...

Re: Working towards larger rear 88 hubs....

I didn't take any pics yet. The long axle cracked at the inner CV and was gross as hell so I just threw it in the trash can at the track. I didn't bring rags with me to clean the grease enough to put it back into the front compartment. I still have the short axle that i can snap some pics of when I ...

Working towards larger rear 88 hubs....

So after breaking another axle on wednesday, its time to start looking to upgrade the outer CV joint and the rear hub. The 84/87 guys have it easy, simply swap to a 6000 upright with the S10 splines. There doesn't seem to be an easy bolt on solution thats widely discussed for the 88s. I'd like to fi...

Re: Playing with a Go-Pro camera...

The mount I used doesn't have any rotation to it. Its basically a suction cup with 3 or 4 joints that can be adjusted. I stuck it to the pass side window and the then adjusted the joints so the camera was about level. There is not adjustment to rotate it towards the center of the car. Same when its ...

Playing with a Go-Pro camera...

I finally got an in-car video uploaded at 1080p using a tiny go-pro camera. I missed 5th gear on this pass, but the vid is still pretty neat..
