Re: BMW advice
I was wondering how easily the manifold would come off. One of the studs came out of the bottom of the manifold. It wasn't pressed in. It unscrewed. It has 8mm threads at both ends, but the shank in between necks down to 6mm. Sound familiar? Does not sound familiar, but I bet someone else has alrea...

Re: BMW advice
The new twin turbo DI motor is a big bitch. Compact width wise but tall with the turbos on top and still needs the liquid intercoolers. Also the exhaust runs down the back of the motor and around the bell housing. Fun times for me in the future. Worth it all, cause goddamn is that a fantastic engin...

Re: BMW advice
Sounds like a Jaguar V12. How hard is it to pull the manifolds off the engine and what problems are likely to arise with that? I'd rather pull the manifolds off and work on them on the bench than F#$% around with them in the car. I have access to a well equipped machine shop, so I can machine broke...

Re: BMW advice
Take the mechanical fan off and unbolt the trans cross member. Tilt the engine back. Use a torch to heat up the manifold with the broken stud and hammer it out. Get it nice and hot or it can be a bitch. The new twin turbo DI motor is a big bitch. Compact width wise but tall with the turbos on top an...

Re: Ticket for going too slowned
Anyone else here think the ticket is actually for 90 but the writing on the ticket makes the 9 look like a 4? I don't know if that was discussed on the other forum, I didn't bother to read it. somewhere around the 4th post down, all becomes clear... lol Ah, ok. I just turned 64 hours in the past 4 ...

When do we get the BMW forum?
I think it's about time for a BMW forum seeing that there are four or five active threads here. Just a thought.

Re: bmw repair advice
It won't reset itself. Sounds like it damaged the seat harness and possibly blew the fuse. Check the fuse (fuse panel is above the glovebox) and pop in a new fuse. If it blows right away, then you are pretty much screwed unless you can get the device out from under the seat some other way (pry bar?)...

I don't know the exact displacement, but the engine is the M30B34, which is in the 3.4-3.5 neighborhood. It says 3.5 on the intake manifold. The 325's got the M20B25. Your 1990 car should have the M20 also. I don't think the M50 came out until '93, but I could be remembering that poorly. BMW engine...

I'd go with Emc. But what would I know, I just own a BMW well north of 200k. By the way, car crossed to 213k today, and took another highway trip just fine. It is down some power, when I get some time and money I'll do plugs/wires, cold air intake, and an exhaust system. Should help. It is also lea...

After 9/11, the Detroit Three and Harley Davidson gave $40 million-plus emergency vehicles to the recovery efforts. What was given to the 9/11 relief effort by the Asian and European Auto Manufactures? $0 Nada. Zip! I know you didn't write this, but just this statement alone tells me that this pers...

You work at a dealer or an indie shop? I forgot. I need a PS pump cap. Mine's leaking everywhere. I think it's a PS cap. Also screws to the license plate holder. :la: I work for a dealership. There is a vent in the cap. If it's coming out, then either there is too much fluid or its boiling it. Clea...
