Re: Build Thread: RX8
Oh yeah, forgot you had that installed. I've actually talked about this with my engine builder and read quite a bit about it. The straight injection in the middle of the housing actually works pretty good since all the oil gets distributed there instead of being in an atomized form in the fuel. It ...

Re: Build Thread: RX8
Rotary engines go through oil so quickly between consuming it and frequent oil changes that the smaller filter would have been fine. I change my 7s oil about every 1800 miles. The 7 likely runs a lot hotter than the 8, so you might not have to change out as often? I could go longer but I was pushin...

Re: Build Thread: RX8
I have actually been driving my RX8 a lot more than I have been working on it over the past 2 months, but I finally decided that this week I was going to get some work done on it. The first thing I did was change the oil. After reading all 78-pages of this thread, I decided on using Royal Purple 0w4...

Re: Build Thread: RX8
About a month ago, I started losing my power steering again intermittantly. What was strange is that I could drive about a 1/4 mile, turn the car off, turn it back on, and my power steering would come back to life. I also noted that the car would have to sit more than 8-hours for it to happen. Thing...

Yes they do make it w/ a 6-speed, but they do not make it in AWD (In America).Aaron wrote:VW doesn't make the Jette TDi wagon with a 6-speed? They do the sedan, I imagine a trans swap would be pretty easy.

Re: 3.4 DOHC Turbo dyno with E85
I am pretty sure Jeff dynoed close to the same amount without E85. Its just a single walbro 255 so it might be running out of flow volume with that pump to support much more than that. Hell the 255's from walbro when they first came out were only rated at 450-500 hp N/A. That turbo tech is pretty o...

Re: FS: 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8
Well I sold my 2004 jeep a couple of years ago for $12,500. So $40,000 may be a bit optimistic. I checked the local areas and the listings I found were pretty close in price. I found ~5 2010's with 15-38k miles listed at 36k-39k. They were stock though. It might be a *bit* high, but I see nothing w...

Re: 87 Fastback L47 Chump Car/ Lemons Project.
EDIT: I wonder how much weight can be cut in the rears from slotting and drilling, Personally I think Drilling is stupid, and just create stress risers, fatigueing the rotors sooner, And I have yet to see any real testing convincing me of any advantage to slotted rotors, but as a weight saving adva...

Re: Build Thread: RX8
I installed my Corksport single-resonated midpipe. Installation was super-easy. Fortunately the usually-stuck header bolts were replaced recently so it was a cinch to get the stock pipe out. the rear blts and O2 sensor also came out nice and easy. Installation was simple too as Corksport provides ne...

Re: Build Thread: RX8
I have made a bunch of small exterior changes recently that I am really pleased with. In the lighting department, I installed the Corksport LED running light and rear license plate light which resulted in a much cleaner and whiter light. I also installed my yellow foglights. Along with that, I insta...

Re: Build Thread: RX8
So I have been up to a bunch of work on my RX8 over the past couple of weeks. First off, I installed my Corksport LED lighting kit. All the interior, trunk, and rear license plate lights installed nice and east with no issues. The running lights located in the headlights were another story. First of...

Re: Build Thread: RX8
So it's been a couple of months since I've updated this. In that time, I really haven't done much to the car besides drive it and accumulate parts. Fortunately due to this mild winter, I have been able to drive the RX8 a fair amount and it has been running great. So anyways, here's a couple of pics ...

I saw this car on Barret-Jackson last week. They were trying to start the car up for auction-time, but they had firing issues.

Re: AWD Diesel Wagon /w Manual Trans in the US
The point is that we shouldn't have to waste our valuable time swapping engines into vehicles manufactures should be installing the engine into from the get go. The American public is 120% apathetic about diesels and economy, so they get away with it. It's sad. Everyone's catering to the Frat boys ...

Re: AWD Diesel Wagon /w Manual Trans in the US
No. If you're looking for an AWD diesel in the US market, you better have at least 50k. BMW, VW, and Mercedes all make high end SUV's and then of course there are the diesel pick-ups. VW made a Syncro Passat back in the 90's that might have come with a TDI for the Canada market. I know it's not a wa...

Re: New year, new PC.... Observations
My desktop is quite similar, almost identical to your original desktop. It works well for what it is although my current laptop is faster and has more memory. I'm not a gamer though. Asides from internet, I only use my computer for music/photo storage, and budgets/spreadsheets. Back when I bought my...

Re: Weight of V6 exhaust system?
I noticed the Civic crowd likes to do this. It's a much cheaper alternative to Ti exhausts. I have even seen a 4" aluminum exhaust for a GTR. It was built much in the same way you are talking about. I'm honestly not a huge fan of the idea, but I am looking forward to the pics and the reports on...

Re: Cold Cranking amps
Nice. I didn't know Lithium batteries were available in the automotive market yet. That's because you're a Fiero-owner, :-D Just kidding. But yeah, there are a couple other Lithium-battery manufacturers out there for automobiles. I didn't know about these until I spent some time reading on the RX8 ...
