Now we're talkin' turkey!

Seriously? If I could find one in good shape, I'd grab it in a heartbeat.

Have you thought about the Maxda hatchs any? Yes. They are godawful. Test-drove one in February; actually, test-drove a whole lot of newer cars before settling on the used 'Yota. The Mazda is in every sense of the idea a boy-racer's masturbatory tool. The engine is powerful but very, very high-stru...

I'm just waiting for the DBT. 1000km the first week 1700km the second week 1400km last week That's NOT including ~3000km for three return trips to Winnipeg to pick shit up, visit my wife (socially + conjugglery)... Looking at my calls for tomorrow's looking like 4-500km in one day. I changed my oil ...

Will, Read the Vizard article... Just brilliant! :) I had a thought not too long ago about how neat it'd be to build a "speed shop" of sorts that existed to do NOTHING but improve upon a vehicle's fuel economy... No cheap-shit tricks like magnets or model airplane propellors... Actual vehi...

Fair enough, you got me on that. In my defence, I'm a functionalist; I'm concerned with what people actually DO with the software (usually so I can figure out how they fucked it up) I'd venture to argue though, that for the majority of users that AREN'T implanting their own proprietary code into spr...

lol @ the thought of a FIERO holding up to what looks to be 60,000km / year of driving. :bootyshake: This is my COROLLA; I can't even imagine fitting the required amount of tools, manuals, and parts into a fiero  I WISH this stupid car had CC; I can honestly say it's the only thing I don't...

Any long-distance drivers?

It's my first full week on the job. It's only thursday, and I've already got 1000km on the car for work. My timesheets are showing that for an 8-9 hour day, I'm spending anywhere from 3-5 hours in the driver's seat. Anyone else do this kind of thing for a living? I'm looking for advice to stop my ba...

There were a lot of GOOD points in "Culture of Stuff" but the chick got some of the facets of engineered obsolescence wrong. Her claim that the difference between two computers 5 years old apart was a simple chip is just way, way out there. Obsolescence in the computer world has absolutely...

Re: Life sucks

General manager of the restaurant I'm workin in is nice guy, but he's so afraid of rocking the boat that he can't/won't take a stand on a hard decision. One of the assistant managers is such a stupid, lazy, asshole that a large portion of why the business is going rapidly downhill rests squarely on...

I'm going to be a missileer (nuclear weapons operator) at FE Warren AFB. Whatever you do, don't hit the red button. The big red button. The inviting, big, shiney, candy-red button. The button that speaks softly to you, promising unearthly pleasures, forbidden ecstasy--don't push it. DO NOT PUSH THE...

Problem is that the 4 speed and 3 speed detents are different lengths... AFAIK, there's no way to get it to line up "just right" without making a new blockout plate for the shifter. You can align it in Park; put the shifter in park, release the cable, set the tranny into park (you'll hear ...

Like walking through the jungle with a big shot of novocaine into each ankle. You wouldn't know you have problems until you fell over and noticed the almond-smell coming from your black and green toes. Feedback is ALWAYS better, because it makes no assumptions. To be fair, though, as far as band-aid...

Sorry, haven't worked with an auto shifter in yonks... There should be a slack adjusting nut on the cable somewhere... IIRC, you set the shifter and tranny in L1, and pick up the slack from there, and adjust until the marks line up.

Every failed connection with worm-clamps that I've ever seen were due to overtightening, size mismatching(either clamp, or hose-to-fitting), or attempting to use old, crusty, disintegrating hoses.

My life promises to get really, REALLY busy soon... I doubt I'll be doing much moving around beyond finding a temp place to live, then finding a more permanent arrangement. That said, when we buy a new place, the wife is going to want to fill it to the rafters with all kinds of swedish crap, and Cal...

Well, I took the job. Regina's a pretty little city; much like Winnipeg in terms of small-prairie-town, but without the arrogance and pretention. Plus, you can drive clear across town in rush hour traffic in under 20 minutes :) I move on the 1st, but will be in a Hotel until I can find me a place to...

Well, I ship out on Thursday for a week to check it out.

If Regina is suitable for human habitation, looks like I get to pack all my shit up and drag it westward.
