I believe in squish velocity. The pressure will be different in various parts of the combustion chamber because the volume changes for things like plugs, valves etc. What I don't believe is that air will willingly make a break from the path of least resistance, pick up velocity and change directions...

Question: I refer you to a picture of a T-56 6-speed GM transmission: http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/ProductImages/transmissioncomponents/transmissionassemblies/usedt56.jpg Is it just me or has the shift assembly been moved back? And if so, would it be possible to move it back up? I ask because i...

Thanks for the info. I'm not all that opposed to the controlled bleed clutch; it takes some getting used to, but I find that after a couple hours seat-time, it's less of a hinderance. Cable actuated IS simpler though, so it's definitely a possibility. I have to confess that I have absolutely NO idea...

PM me your home number, and I'll leave you voice messages every few hours until the part's shipped.

I'd just have to decide which is more creepy/threatening/annoying;

Heavy-breathing or "Munching-doritos-with-mouth-open."

These are two seperate points that I was making but I put them in the same paragraph to speed things along and because I thought you were not having trouble following this. Just a barrage of different information. I'm pretty sure I follow what you're saying--but if there's misinformation due to wor...

I *LIKE* those gears... At 5400rpm shifts I drop to ~3700rpm across thr first 4 gears...

Do you by chance know the RPO code for that box?

I got a response back from JohnsCars; The kit uses a crankshaft adaptor and a GM flywheel, so I don't think I need to be too fussed about the clutch; I'd just grab the whole setup from the master-cylinder back, and have basically the complete GM drivetrain between the crank and the last set of u-joi...

Where I was going with that is to say that the squish velocity is less under say 15" of vacuum as compared to an engine at full throttle and maximum VE. The quench groove is then what a reflective cone is to a flash light, It focuses the velocity directly tward the plug. I don't buy it. Why wo...

I think this says pretty much what needs to be said about your "fabrication" skills.

I've seen Will's work. What color's the sun on your world? Because trust me, you aren't even in the same universe.

You aren't talking about behavior of a vacuum; you're talking about a fuel-air charge that has mass and takes up space. Just because the manifold pressure is less than ambient doesn't mean that it's any more or less shoved around by the motion of the piston. In the quench area, there is nowhere for ...

That doesn't jive well.

For starters, ANY fuel/air is going to be forced towards the plug as the cylinder is moving up--there's nowhere else for it to go.

New word of the day: Chronic Dehydration. The twitching was getting really, really annoying, so I did a little more reading--or rather re-read some of the previous articles--nothing that I thought was useful... At least until I took a piss, and looked down. Forced myself to down a quart and a half o...

Not to sound like an asshat, but if you're going through the trouble of replacing all the hardline, there is no good reason to use old rubber hoses. None at all.

I met a psychiatrist like that. I've got a medical diagnosis sheet from a team of psychologists who specialize in behavioral disorders and adult learning. I met with 3 of them over a period of 3 weeks, did all kinds of tests and sessions. In the end, they diagnosed me with Attention Deficit Disorder...

Relative. I've seen home videos of what she was like before. Put herself through nursing school, had a good job she loved. Then the voices started, so she went and got help. Now, if you meet her, you would be forgiven for thinking that she was more than a little bit mentally challenged. She looks li...

Will, It's not shown, but there are 2 tubular links that appear in the installation manual--they bolt to uprights and are anchored forwards to the frame; I'd assume these are trailing arms for this setup? I'd like to go this route, as it's basically "drop in, line up, then adjust spring rate un...

So... Uh, anyone want to tell me how you would classify this suspension setup here? http://www.heidts.com/cartimages/prd_lg_130.jpg I'm pretty sure it's not swing-axle, as it has a control arm slung under the stub axle... That would make it a single wishbone suspension, no? My concern is "jacki...

It's been quite a lot of years since I saw this, but Herb Adams and his son went and designed their own suspensions-very much like what I mentioned last week, but not for street rods. I would strongly advise going to great lengths if necessary to speak directly with the younger Afams, I forget his ...

Seems to me that it'd be a total crapshoot either way--even if you could produce consistant "jets" of fuel/air, you'd have to be reasonably certain where to AIM them... Even better, these "flat spots" you'd have to shoot for will change depending on throttle position, engine RPM,...
