Re: 1985 AMC Eagle wagon build
I don't think AMC's were ever built with world class transmissions. I've seen the pics showing the plug on the front of the countershaft bore to differentiate WC from NWC. I'd always assumed this box was NWC and never checked. There's nothing wrong with an NWC transmission when used with in its cap...

Re: '06 Sierra 1500 -> 2500
Way too late for that. It has the 2500HD rear springs and a pair of Bell Tech 2" drop shackles. Ride quality is still surprisingly decent. Next week I'll get more pics, with a few tons of iron on the trailer. Today I finished wiring the trailer, only to discover why the electric brakes weren't ...

Re: Off the deep end, for fun
What the heck is this world coming to when a new limited slip differential assembly costs less than a conversion locker that replaces the spider gears? Looks like I'll be calling Reider for a Trac-Loc.

Re: Off the deep end, for fun
The 3.54:1 gears arrived, and there's virtually no wear! I'm very happy.

Another completed project: I set out to remove the box from the dually, you can see it is now off. No way can anyone honestly criticize me for not finishing most of what I start.

I finish lots of things I start. Here, here's the gooseneck hitch I built for my '06 Sierra 1500. Look close, you'll also see the HD axle swap got done and is daily-driven. http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k392/Atilla_the_Fun/P01-25-12_10331.jpg http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k392/Atilla_the_F...

Re: here she is:
Haters. What do I gotta do, post pics showing the nice truck I'm trying to copy, show how nice that guy made his old F350 turn out? I thought this crowd could visualize better than that.

Failed to finish removing the Dana axle yesterday, though I made obvious progress.

Re: Your day to shine, Atilla
Engine Masters is annual. The rules are never the same twice, they always change something, and usually make big changes. The builds may be real-world for the top 10% of enthusiasts, but aren't real-world for those who also need 25 MPG and 150,000-mile reliability. I read the feature every year, loo...

Re: Off the deep end, for fun
Do an early GM diesel, I'd be interested to see you prove will and I wrong. If you think you can get adequate power and mpg out of the 4.3 diesel. I've never seen anyone try to make one work I've only ever seen them end in tears. If you can really get 40mpg out of a $75 motor id be impressed. I wou...

Y'all ever been in a musty old library, with a matching librarian who isn't there for the paycheck? What she says is law while you're in her domain. Well, power recipes for SBCs is my domain, and I tolerate no insubordination, from anyone, ever.

Re: 1985 AMC Eagle wagon build
If the codes tag is still there you might have some luck from that direction. I'm not convinced that ALL the 4.03 / 0.76 versions were "World Class", I'd need a pic of the front end, sans bellhousing, to determine. I sure wouldn't use a non-WC or any non-WC parts. NWCs are only good for mo...

Re: Off the deep end, for fun
I sold my 350, to remove that temptation. I really don't need that much power. I'm leaning toward the gasoline 4.3L V6 Partly because I know it's adequate and efficient My black 4.3 S-10 did 28 MPG at 70 MPH, with 700R-4, 3.42:1 & 26" tires. So my T/A with 4.3 / 700R-4 / 3.54:1 / 27" t...

Re: AWD Diesel Wagon /w Manual Trans in the US
Well, 2 of you failed to do your research before posting outright BS. It's the 6.2 that needs the mains drilled and tapped deeper for longer main studs to take much boost. The Olds diesels are fine to about 12 psi for the v6, and about 6 psi for the 350, ( limited by fewer head bolts than the V6 ver...
