Thats cool, I was just down in Reno looking at a tc. The salesman showed me a magazine with that exact car in it. Its currently running 600hp.

I was thinking of importing one, took a test drive. I liked it, but they are pretty gutless stock.

Aluminum flywheel and lightweight clutch

I'm going to need a new clutch soon, the new stock fiero replacement clutch isn't holding up to the 3.4 like I thought it would. I was looking on SPEC's website and noticed they sell a lightweight clutch option. Anyone know how much lighter it is? Just wondering if its really worth the extra $80. I ...

The lower door impact beam can be removed, and the upper can be replaced by a steel tube, which should be stronger in the end. The doors on these cars weigh a ton. If you have any power accessories like power windows and such you can replace them with manual units. Remove all the sound deadening mat...

Stock a manual 3.4dohc is 210hp 215tq at the flywheel. With a 13* exhaust cam retard, better flowing exhaust and no a/c or ps it should be around 230-240 at the fly. This is as much power as your highly modified pushrod 3.4 is making. Then the more expensive mods need to be done but they will give b...

Cams, headers and a late style intake should get this motor in the high 200s crank hp. Bumping compression is also easy. If I was running nitrous there would definitly be a reason to go with sbc rods and forged pistons. When my other motor is done, I should see how big a shot a stock 3.4 will take. ...

I dunno, too square. When I see them on the road they are like any tall narrow square car built nowadays.

You are right. The 3.4 pushrod has a bit of aftermarket but any mod you do to the dohc will make big gains. Cams are the biggest bottleneck, and for $400-600 there are companies that will regrind them to add lift and duration. They do this by adding metal to the lobes and regrinding. That mod plus a...

They are not spare, if they were I would give them to you. I'll be sending the heads to shaun sometime to have ported. I will keep the motor that is in my car whole and probibly keep it as a spare engine "just in case". Thanks for the info on the crank, is there anything that guy doesn't h...

My broken 3.4dohc core motor

Well I pulled my core 3.4dohc apart today to see what is wrong with it. As soon as I pulled the pan it was pretty aparent. There was metal all over the oil pan and intake screen of the oil pump. You could see one of the piston skirts decided to let go. It caused some damage to the srank and rods and...

If anyone has seen Getaway in Stockholm you will like this video. I'm thinking of buying it. Its basically a guy on a wicked fast shifter cart racing through downtown Montreal, illegally.

I would assume it does. My Intrepid does the same thing in neutral. Bounces off a 3500rpm rev limiter in neutral and revs freely in drive.

GM put mild cams in the dohc from factory. Stock for stock, the 3.4tdc, even with mild cams, still kills the 3400 for hp. I've heard the heads on the tdc add no more than 50 lbs over cast iron 60* heads. Aluminum gen 3 heads are probibly good for a 70lb weight advantage. deh cams is where it be at Y...

DOHC cams can be built up by a company that welds underwater and then reground with a higher lift and agresive profile. With moderate mods to the heads, intake and exhaust with these cams you can easily see 300-350fwhp. For NA hp there is no substitute for 24 valves. Boost is the great equalizer. Po...
