Re: 88 Front Hub Assembly. The results are in. An Autopsy.

I've successfully installed Fiero rear hubs into the front of my $2009 Challenge Formula. The car weighs a bit over 3000 pounds. So far I've put about 3000 miles and some autocrossing on all season tires and things seem to be holding together well so far. To put the rear hubs up front, you have to b...

Re: Batteries

I'm not sure if you're in Canada or something, but you got hosed if you paid 200 USD for an Optima. Like I said, they have been rising in price for a long time, but not $200!!! Amazon sells it for $150 total (free shipping): http://www.amazon.com/Optima-Batteries-8022-091-Starting-Battery/dp/B00075O...

Re: Batteries

I've got an Optima red top kicking around right now. Great batteries until you kill them, if you leave them discharged for an extended period they'll never come back. Given your usage, I'd recommend the yellow top (deep cycle). Also, if you store it in the garage, it might be worth getting a Battery...

Re: Another MPG Thread

I think 21mpg was the most mpg I have ever seen anyone get with a 2.8, no matter what trans. Surely you can't be serious. I get that easily with mostly city driving, 2.8 and 5 speed trans. I easily get high 20s on the highway, usually 28-30 mpg. I've found that the most common source of poor fuel e...

Re: My Grassroots Motorsports $2009 build

Just giving you shit, I realize you get a cut of the profits made from the advertising banners. That's cool and all, but I'm too lazy to click links, so I assume others are too :-D I wish I got a cut of the advertising profits...haven't we gone over this? Here's another link for you to click: http:...

Re: My Grassroots Motorsports $2009 build

Because he's too fucking lazy. I've got my reasons to send people over to the GRM forum, I assure you that being lazy isn't one of them. Take a look at the car that I built in three months, then drove thousands of miles to compete with...is this the work of a lazy man? I'm a lot of things, but lazy...

Oh yeah, and while I've got your attention, the Fiero is shown in the latest issue of GRM magazine in part of the $2009 Challenge event coverage.

Re: W41 achieva part out...

I'm interested in the transmission for the gearset. I used to have one, but I lent it to a race car a couple years ago and never got it back. :( I sent a PM.

Location? Parts available? Mileage? Condition? Price? These factors affect my level of interest.

Re: EVAP for a race car

I'm with Atilla, it hardly weighs anything and has some actual benefits. Having removed it on cars in the past, I wished that I hadn't afterwards.

Re: 3400 fiero, mid 13's

I have been thinking of putting a 3400 into the $2009 Fiero because it's very cheap at the junkyards and is one of the best engines that can swap in with almost entirely stock parts (flywheel, mounts, accessories, etc.). I have wondered what a well sorted version would be capable of, and this is jus...

Re: My Grassroots Motorsports $2009 build

The one that Jegs sells for $250 can be had for $215 from http://www.competitionproducts.com. That'd be $35, if it applies to you. My electric coolant pump was a fraction of that price. As Will hinted at, you're seriously underestimating the level of cheapness these cars are built with. I bought co...

overall winner of hte GRM challenge. Just a civic. Looks like you can make them fast for little money. /sarcasm it ran an 11.84 in the qtr. Now what do fiero owners say about putting XX amount of dollars into a fiero and it will wax XX car on the road. Well everyone with the same budget, civic come...

Re: My Grassroots Motorsports $2009 build

how many miles can you go on a full charge? 10? 20? Even so, if just running down to the store, its still no gas being used which is cool. I haven't done any full-to-dead driving yet, but I suspect more like 3 or 4 miles worth of city driving. My commute to work is about 3 miles (and mostly downhil...

Re: My Grassroots Motorsports $2009 build

have you been able to do any real world gas mileage tests yet? Highway = 30 mpg (gas only, same as stock) City = bajillion mpg (electric only) until I run out of battery Racing = Live my life a quarter mile at a time (read: same fuel economy as stock, except the car is way faster in the quarter) Re...
