I think the deck height of a V6/60 is 224mm (8.818") So with a 76mm crank, 6" rods and zero deck pistons, the pistons would need a 1.322 CH (33.58mm). This is easily done. The factory N* compression height is 32mm, and there's room to move the pin up a little bit in that piston. If you kno...

Oh yeah, for you guys with stock rear springs... What's the distance from the upper spring cushion to the top of the strut clamp? I need to know that approximately to get the angle right. On my car that distance is about 12 5/8"... since my car's lowered slightly more than 1", that should ...

Found dragster rear suspension pics: http://will.saturnet.net/pictures/HR_Drag_Fiero_Strut_Blocks_1.jpg http://will.saturnet.net/pictures/HR_Drag_Fiero_Strut_Blocks_2.jpg Mine will not move the struts as far and thus will not require any cutting of the body. 1" is the minimum amount possible to...

Designing strut blocks; need measurement

I'm finally sitting down at the keyboard to design the strut blocks I've been meaning to design forever... The trouble is, my car is pulled pretty far apart, so I can't take the one measurement I need to see how feasible this is. Ok, a strut block is like what they made for the Fiero dragster... it ...

You don't know what the rod and main journal sizes of the S2000 are, do you? Specified clearances?

The Northstar also has an 84 mm stroke... I'm curious about the S2000's bearing surface speed.

Airflow = horsepower, BUT compression is what turns airflow into horsepower. Piston speed obviously affects the strength of the "vacuum signal" at the intake port... but it's not the only thing... There's a WHOLE LOT that's not listed here, most notably cam specs and head flow data, as wel...

If you die, can I have your engine block? At least you have aluminum heads on it... Not quite a 4point9... Yeah, I'll get pictures... may take a bit, though. I've got a four day weekend with two job interviews over 2 hours away and Navy reserve drill four hours away... It's not quite that simple... ...

Bad math. The stroke difference accounts for 0.16", not 0.32". I looked at things once, and with the bore punched out to 93 MM and using Northstar pistons, the 76mm crank would require 6.050" conrods. So yes, pushing the pin up far enough to use 6" rods in a 3.0 or a 3.1 destroke...

What kind of engines are they considering? A highly tuned engine could do that. It's not that hard getting a Chevy to 80% VE. Also, compression ratio figures in... Going by specific torque, a low compression engine will have higher VE than a high compression engine of the same specific torque. Dunno...

i updated teh T3 super60 map and plotted another T4, both with the 2.8 and 6k redline. note: even with the pessimistic VE, the T3 compressor still falls off the map at redline. I will do some 3.4 plots next. This is nothing special. With the formulas I provided or excel spreadsheet, anyone can do t...

Re: Dyno of my 88 Formula.

This is a dyno of my 88 Formula. This was the setup I was going to run Earl(he has a Peice of shit swap) with but he pussed out. Prob better that he did too. Test was in third gear. It does 190 whp hp in 4th gear but I dont' have a sheet for that. Here: http://www.shaun.saturnet.net/pics/Fiero%20en...

Torque is a direct result of combusting mixture with an engine's cylinders. In a given engine, torque is directly proportional to VE. An engine will pull peak VE at peak torque RPM. If torque is 75% of peak at a certain RPM, then the VE at that RPM is 75% of the VE at peak torque RPM. IOW, you can e...

Why not? do you think that's too low? Remember that you're talking about an emissions compliant engine and that the design is 8-10 years old (don't know exactly when the B16 came out) The F20C1 makes 75 ftlbs/litre and should be about 88% VE. Toyota's 2ZZ-GE also makes 75 ftlbs/litre The current M3 ...

Re: Lets talk turbos

Lets talk turbos. I used the formula CFM = (displacement*max RPM* 0.5 * efficiency)/12^3 The 0.5 is because the engines are 4 strokes. The 12^3 is to convert cubic inches to cubic feet. I am using an efficiency number of .9 for the 4 valve heads and a number of .85 for the 2 valves. The most intere...

breathing is good for any engine highest lift you can get is good moderate duration... if you go crazy with the duration on a wide lobe sep you can get the exhaust valve opening pretty early and the intake valve closing pretty late.
