I am creating this thread for you so you can post all your questions and problems in this one thread.

Lowlux, no more reason for you to start any new threads. You have your own sticky thread now to put everything in so its easier to keep track of.

If you start new posts with questions, they will be deleted and moved to this thread.

I just thought I would make it easier for you and everyone to keep track of what you are working on and having problems with.

well, it was - then you simply laid your tools upon it. Sell the car, put funds in trust fund, kill yourself, let next of kin to use funds for burial ( min $300 ).

At what point will you just take the car to a mechanic or sell it? You obviously have no business trying to repair it on your own, not because you don't know what you are doing but because you refuse to learn and instead just come on the internets bad mouthing the car and the people trying to help you. You can't even change your own oil without disaster, so to be trying to actually fix the car is obviously beyond your abilities right now. If you don't know anybody who can help you learn how to work on your car locally that can put up with you, then you need to take it to a mechanic or sell it.

How long did you run the car without the belt on anyway?

You might have a bad head gasket, I highly doubt you'll want to tackle that job.

You need to take loosen the lower bolt if its there. If its not, you should be able to loosen the upper bolt then swing the alternator inwards.

Top bolt always strips in that bracket. Take the bracket off, drill out the threads and get a bolt 1/2" longer and a nut; problem solved.

It's a fun design, but it's cheaply made. It's 80's america at it's best. The motor's got potential, but it's failure prone. The Fiero is an ongoing struggle for survival. Either commit now or :stfu: .

For one thing, if the bolt is spinning and not coming out, then there are no threads. If there are no threads, that bolt can be yanked out. You may be able to pry behind the head with a thin flathead screwdriver to pop it out some. Then grab it with pliers try and work it out. Be careful, can hurt your hand pretty good if you slip off the bolt.

I haven't had the alt bracket off on my car, not sure what's involved.

I would use a punch and a hammer to knock the bolt out from the backside.

At least 4 bolts, maybe 5, I don't recall.

The alt bracket picks up three bolts on the head and one of the engine mount bolts.
