So the answer to the original question of this topic is:

Do what donk did and make out like a bandit.

The 2530s also respond really well to a 260degree 9.5mm cam upgrade. thats what the Mines Engine runs.

Any direction i go i will need to upgrade to 720cc injectors and Apexi PowerFC and if i go for the 2530s i have to upgrade the intank pump which is a breeze to do in a Skyline as there is an access hatch in the trunk.
This sounds like the way to go dude. We can both run those turbos, that ecu and those cams. We will have a pair of excellent track cars. 600hp at the crank is all the power I'll ever want or need.

The N1s are nice, but you might feel limited. The 2530s and those cams are a good combo. :thumbleft:

I agree. A responsive fast car is what I want, not a dyno queen or 1000hp laggy pos.

The faster the boost comes on the better.

Engine is fucked.

Compression test shows cylinder 3 and 6 are at 50psi and the rest are ~130psi.

Bill just went from $5,000 to $10,000

gay, how did he fuck your car up that bad? did the dude not even think about that while he was cruisng it around he could have had it break down whereever the fuck he was, how would he have got it back to the shop and explained it if that happend?

I assume he is paying for all of this? i know he is already paying for the turbo's and shit, but have u called the shop and told them about your engine? is there a law suit going on or is the shop owner just agreeing to pay for it and making the kid work it off? what if the kid quits?

You had done a compression test *before* you took the car there, right?
IE, do you have any proof it wasn't like that before you dropped it off?

Im in Thailand right now so everything is being handled by Subracing. I got an email this morning telling me the compression test results.

We have enough proof to show the engine was in tiptop shape before it went into their shop.

Could be he ran cheap fuel for the 2 tanks of gas and detonated for 700kms killing the turbos and pounding the fuck out of two cylinders? I dunno im just guessing.

Honestly I would rather just have my car back without having to go through a fragged engine, now we are looking at months of work and i DONT want this to turn into another "project".

This is going to cost me money no matter what as i am not going to just toss a used engine in.... might as well go for gold i guess.

I dont get what happened either

He took the car to Calgary on a weekend, you got back from Tailand, and the shop told you that he took it, then you find out the turbos arent boosting, and then recently that the engine is low on compression?

I came back, the car wasnt running right due to whatever this kid did with my car,

They found the clutch was fried, then when they had more time they checked the turbos, they were fucked, then they asked me what i wanted to do and i said check the engine before we pump some coin into it, then they let me know the compression was gone on two cylinders.

All this happened over email as i dropped the car off just before Halloween. Obviously my car isnt the only one at their shop so things take time.

Probably tried to launch it out of the partking lot and redlined/overboosted a stone cold engine. Dumb.

Pound of flesh.

You shouldn't have to pay a brass nickel for the repair work.

You might have to build a lawsuit out of it, but it looks like the shop management--so far--is handling it well. Keep us posted.

BTW; I smell a viral ad-campaign if the shop refuses to make nice on this. I've got a half-dozen enthusiast sites that would LOVE to read all about this, and I'm sure everyone on here can do the same.

Do NOT let them fuck you.

It would be fair for the shop to replace your engine with a good factory engine of approximately the same mileage... or perhaps even a crate motor if you're demanding enough. I wouldn't consider it fair to make them foot the bill for a built engine, because that's not what the kid blew up.

i agree with will , you should have to pay the difference in cost between OEM replacement of parts and what you want.. im sure with a motor with bad compression it gets complicated as to how you want to replace things. but yea i think donk isnt too far off the mark that he's gonna hev to shell out some coin to upgrade the car still

Maybe I've misread it; Wasn't the motor "built" before the kid got his mittens on it?

The shop has a responsibility to put the car back to the way it was before. BUT, they are also liable for other things; such as compensation for missed work, car rental, legal fees etc. Basically costs incurred BECAUSE of this.

How Donk is recompensated is between him and the shop, but he should NOT be out any money for a direct repair.

If he wants a bunch of "Oh, while it's apart" upgrades, he should be paying the difference between what that's worth and what the shop's responsibility towards him is.
