I just think it's a cool setup, especially for the '50's.

Sorry! Been out of the country.

The W115 rides really well. I live in the old end of town so all the streets are brick and I'm always surprised at how smooth this car rides, as well as my dads W123 240D and 300D when he comes over. The steering in this particular W115 is exceptionally sharp. However it has new ball joints,.fresh shocks, and new tie rods courtesy of the PO, and when I had the engine out I did new subframe mounts and engine mounts. I have ridden in 250,000 mile poorly maintained 240D W115s that rode like total shit, but any abused car will ride bad irrespective of the suspension design. All in all, I'm super happy with how this car rides.

I mentioned this a few weeks ago, but I bought this cars twin, also a 1972 220, but this car is a 4speed manual diesel. 47k original miles, original paint, original sheetmetal. Been sitting since the early 90s. In desperate need of brakes and it wears a set of Michelin tires that haven't been produced since the 70s, with really decent tread. I'm going to use a spare set of wheels to put new modern rubber on it for driving, and keep the Michelins for shows.
